Vinje Church Elects Officers at Annual Meeting
The Vinje Norwegian Lutheran church held its annual meeting last Monday electing officers for the coming year including vice president Professor A C Pederson secretary A Struxnesa treasurer Nori H Tallakson and other trustees. Twenty five new members were admitted. The financial report shows 5095.37 moved through church organizations with balances in the general fund and societies totaling 228. Receipts for the year include 2879.74 general fund and 566.69 Vinje Ladies Aid.

Miss Stella Jennie Swenson and Mr J Albert Peterson were quietly married at the bride’s parents home in Spicer on Monday evening January 14. The ceremony was read by Rev Jesper Holmquist with no attendants present. The couple then hosted an informal reception and planned a trip to the cities Des Moines and St Cloud. The groom works as assistant cashier at the First National Bank and the bride is cashier at Peterson Wollin’s store.

Woman Burned In Oil Explosion Injures Mrs Nelson
Mrs Christ Nelson of 603 Litchfield Ave E was badly burned Tuesday morning in a kitchen oil fire started by kerosene. Flames spread to curtains and woodwork before her husband Mr Nelson, a roundhouse machinist, extinguished the blaze and the doctor treated severe burns on her face hands and limbs.

Louis J. Lundvall a Willmar machinist at the Great Northern engine shops died Monday after a brief illness. Born 1869 in Vallésa Sweden he came to America in 1887 and to Willmar fifteen years ago. He owned a home with sister Mathilda Johnson and niece Ida Goranson and was a Bethel Lutheran member. Funeral planned Friday at Bethel Lutheran with interment at Fairview. relatives in Sweden and across the U S mourn him. Hansine Rasmusson pioneer of St Johns township died January 13 after a yearlong illness. Born 1838 in Funen Denmark she and husband came to America in 1871, living in Minnola, Minnesota then St Johns, later Pennock. Survived by six children, twenty four grandchildren and one great grandchild. services to be held at St Johns Church with Rev Nicolay Nilsen. Mrs Nela Magnuson died January 11 at State Hospital Willmar at age 59. born 1861 in Rinkaby Sweden she married Nels Magnuson in 1886 and leaves four children in Minnesota and Arkansas plus relatives in Sweden. funeral arrangements to be announced.

Farmers Institute held in Willmar last Friday and Saturday faced weather and poor roads cutting attendance by about three quarters yet many found it among the best in Willmar in years. Miller of Minneapolis. women’s sessions at the high school featured Mrs. Bertha Dahll Laws of Appleton and Miss Sheppard from the University Extension.
