Pioneer John Olson of Spicer Dies at 73
John Olson a Swed ish pioneer died at his Spicer Minnesota home on Tuesday January 2 after a severe pneumonia and a fatal stroke. Born September 8 1838 in Endager Hilsingland Sweden he immigrated in 1853 with his family. The voyage and early settlement hardships shaped his long life in the new country. The Olson family endured loss with the death of Peter in New York and their mother in Chicago the same year. Amendment for Fire Station Bonds Passes in City Vote

Epiphany Social at St Lukes Parish House
Mr and Mrs C A Affleck hosted the annual Epiphany party for wardens vestrymen and their wives at St Lukes parish house last Monday evening. The Guild Hall served as reception space with green and white Epiphany decor. A three course luncheon followed candles were lit and the Epiphany cake cut. Mrs George W Johnson drew the ring signaling she will host next year. Mr Affleck spoke on Epiphany meanings and toasts were offered as candles burned. Mrs Affleck helped serve with Mesdames Long and Ford Danielson.

Surprise party honors Mrs. Aron Erickson at Niobe
Mrs Aron Erickson of Niobe N B now visiting Ole Erickson at Lake Lillian enjoyed a pleasant surprise Saturday evening with about sixty friends. Rev Alexander Peterson spoke of the family and Niobe church spirit and a gift of thirty four dollars was presented with good wishes. Also Earl Somerville of Raymond married Edith Hultgren of Woods Township last Wednesday at 630 pm at the bride’s father's home with Rev J Watson officiating. Mrs John Garry en route to Cottonwood visited Willmar area. Rev M B Michaelson officiated at Nellie Brekke’s funeral in Benson Monday.

Deputy Swanson of Ford County Illinois traveled from Paxton to Willmar to detain Frank Riblet on a telegraphic order for desertion and non support. Riblet, known locally, had been employed on the State Hospital farm and noted for courting a local woman, prompting warnings about strangers. Delays occurred due to requisition papers misrouting.

At the Vinje congregation annual meeting a resolution invited Minnesota District Synod to meet in Willmar. Hon. L. C. Thorpe will attend to discuss location. Minnesota District covers most Minnesota. about a hundred ministers and many congregations will be represented. Officials elected include Estrem, Johnson, Struxness, Petersen, Olson. a cemetery association incorporation is being considered. The meeting adjourned to the first Monday in February.

Accident at Ice House Injures Employee at Work
Alfred Falkingham, an employee at the U. N. ice house, suffered a serious injury last Friday when a single-tree broke and struck him, tearing his right thigh. He received immediate care from Dr. Johnson, who set the wound with sixteen stitches and reported him comfortable under the circumstances.
