First Annual Meeting of Willmar Commercial Club Elects Officers
First annual meeting of the Commercial Club of Willmar held in Barnstad Block last night saw 65 members of 99 present elect officers for the year. Alton Crosby named president, E C Wellin vice president, Wm T Markhus secretary, M T Sandbo treasurer, plus seven directors led by D N Tallman and J Pinney. A house rule forbidding liquor in club rooms was adopted. Membership dues set at 25 dollars. quarterly dues 3 dollars. rooms open to members with guest access. lady relatives allowed except Tuesday evenings. The club rooms include parlor writing reading dining kitchen and more.

County Officers Salary Increase Tied to County Valuation
State board of equalization raised Kan alyohi county land values last summer. As a consequence the county auditor and treasurer now earn 2000 each, with auditor's clerk hire set at 1128. Salaries are fixed as a percentage of total county property valuation, leaving the county commissioners no option in setting pay.

Arrest of shoemaker for selling liquor without license
Peter Olson of Benson avenue near Hanscom building was arrested last Monday on a charge of selling intoxicating liquor without a license. He faced Justice Otterneas as Edevart Pederson testified purchasing whiskey from Olson in January, after which Pederson became intoxicated. Olson denied selling but claimed a third party provided the whiskey. he was bound over to the grand jury with bail set at 200 dollars, and released after bonds signed by Ole Barnstead and John Johnson.

A New Year’s Day concert at the Swedish Mission church in Willmar featured Prof. Olson and Anderson of Northwestern College Minneapolis, with Miss Ida Shedeen and Julia Mikkelson. Olson and Miss Shedeen offered piano pieces, Anderson played guitar and mandolin, and Miss Mikkelson sang. The church was packed, many unable to enter, and the audience donated a generous sum to the college. Separately, Trenton League No. 4 W L K L held a public officer installation led by J. G. Goar of Montevideo. The event included speeches, stories, and a post-ceremony meal followed by dancing until midnight.

Miss Sarah Fjellman aged about twenty nine died at her Duluth home last Friday at ten p.m from consumption. Her remains were moved to Willmar for burial at Fairview Cemetery where Swan Edlund officiated. Pallbearers included Jonas Lundquist Eric Sandberg Fred Anderson John Erickson William Westberg. She leaves a father and three brothers Lewis Peter Andrew and two sisters Bosey and Betty Fjellman. The family resided in Willmar before moving to Duluth years ago.
