James A Baxter asks for a short history of the Seventh Wisconsin Infantry. The unit organized in 1861 at Madison, served until mustered out July 3, 1865, with 281 killed and 143 from disease. It fought in about 20 battles, helped by Wadsworth’s Division, First Corps, Iron Brigade, with major losses at Gettysburg and other actions. A Feb 6 rally at Archander town hall united Lake Andrew Dovre Mamre Norway Lake and Arctander residents to push for a railroad. They formed a central committee to lobby Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul for a route via Willmar Sunburg or New Prairie Starbuck Elbow Lake, with delegates to press the case in Chicago and Willmar. Also Carleton College reports $250,000 raised with a $100,000 conditional offer from the General Education Board toward a $600,000 goal including endowment heating and debt relief.

J F Millard the newly appointed bank examiner left Thursday morning for the capital to assume the duties of his office. For several weeks he will work at headquarters before taking the road, with territory along the Great Northern to the Dakota line and along the Milwaukee and Soo roads. A small district in southern Minnesota near Grove City will be handled by another examiner. Millard will be at his local bank every Saturday until road work starts.

Arthur Blomquist returns home from a brief Minneapolis visit with his brother and kin. L. P. Felt plans lumber sawing this week if weather cooperates. Aug Lindblad visited the county seat on business last Saturday. Edwin Reesler and family have moved to housekeeping on the Swedberg farm. A sale at John Freed's for March 1 is canceled. Hulda Williamson of Willmar High School visited here. Local youths attended a Roseland party and enjoyed it. A party at Albert Walner’s drew many local youths, with refreshments and social time. The Broman children hosted schoolmates for dinner. The Kandiyohi Epworth League pie social drew many nearby residents. Rev Egdren and family hosted friends Thursday. Nels Thulin will move to the old Trulson farm soon. Monday Afternoon Club featured life of Alexander Hamilton with reviews and World Peace Foundation notes. Next meeting March 6 with plans for Chapters 2 and 3. club to start at 2:30. Born to Solon Benton and wife a daughter on February 18.
