Willmar District Court Ad journns to February 15

The district court adjourned after a two week session and will reconvene Monday February 15 at 2 o clock. Pending civil actions include Gustaf Swanson versus C O Malu quiet title and several others with dates February 15 through 27 set for trials and continuances. Several criminal liquor cases are continued or dismissed with multiple defendants facing fines and jail terms.

Farmers organize Minnesota Farmers Exchange at St Paul meeting

A statewide meeting of soil tillers in St Paul last week formed the Minnesota Farmers Exchange, a branch of the National Farmers Exchange. It aims to advance farmers interests, operate elevators, handle live stock and dairy goods, and act as a commission house and clearance facility. A nine member board will guide actions. incorporation articles prepared. supporters urged to recruit stock subscriptions. another meeting planned in March to start operations. County Auditor Johnson received assessor books and supplies.

Freight collision near Herman leaves man injured

F A Brunkow, driving home with a wood load southwest of Herman, narrowly escaped death after his wagon struck a westbound freight train. He suffered head injuries from an iron rod, one knee hurt, and two horses died. He was treated at a drugstore and later at the Merchant hotel. Great Northern and railroad officials settled for 630 in damages and expenses.

Intoxicated Farmer Found Frozen Near Olivia

A young farmer about 23 was found early on a bitter morning near Olivia after drinking heavily the night before. He lost both legs and a hand, died from exposure, and the village marshal located his team on a trestle. The residence is northeast of Olivia, and the incident ends a sad record attributed to drink.

Minnesota Central Telephone to pay ten percent dividend

The Minnesota Central Telephone Company will distribute 28500 in dividends among stockholders after a year showing gross earnings of 103382.82 and net earnings of 38392.68. The annual meeting approved officers and board of directors with expansions to property and plant, noting 1700 miles of tollines and 26 exchanges serving about 500 subscribers.
