Golden Wedding of Robert Tait Celebrated in Harrison Township

Fifty years of marriage marked a surprise for Mr and Mrs Robert Tait of Harrison township on January 31 at their home Those who planned the event were Mia Adam Tait and Mrs James Tait A gathering of about thirty called during the evening A dinner was served at an early hour in rooms decorated with roses Mrs Tait is 74 and Mr Tait 84 He received a gold headed cane and a cameo pin The couple wed fifty years ago in Meeker county later moving to Kandiyohi during the Dakota War era Attendees included Mrs Prantl Tidait Danvers and son Robert and Miss Catherine Tait Minneapolis

Kai nyoni County Telephone Board Plans Rental Increase

The Kai nyoni County Telephone Company Board met at Bank of Willmar to seek Railroad and Warehouse Commission permission to raise annual telephone rentals from 15 to 18 dollars. A Bank of Willmar loan of 7500 was arranged. Malven Norby Norwegian tenor gave a recital at Synod Lutheran Church last Wednesday despite Arctic weather. Amy Fridlund assisted at the piano. attendance fell short due to the storm.

Committee Appointed On New School Question

The Board of Education met at the Bank of Willmar and discussed needing more room for rising enrollment. A three member committee with Superintendent Brohaugh was formed to study a possible twelve room Lincoln school and report advisability before a likely mass meeting of voters.

Morris-Ortonville bus line starts with Morris operation

The Morris Transportation Company began daily Morris to Jrienville bus trips on Monday January 30. The service runs from Morris in the morning and returns in June to connect with the Afternoon train. The new company is formed by Guy Stewart and Jake Porten, both of Morris.

Near East Relief Drive Completed in Kandiyohi County

In Kandiyohi County the Near East Relief drive ended with strong effort led by Mr. K T Rykken and Frank Carlson. Donations reached about 500 including Willmar gifts, corn from farmers, and a carload of corn for shipment to Moscow City via Sioux City to aid Armenia Turkey and Syria famine areas. Townships such as Lake Andrew Green Lake Edwards and others contributed well while some others gave nothing.

Still Captured Swan Ekdahl Found With Frozen Feet

Sheriff and assistants raided Swan Ekdahl’s Lake Wagonga home last week finding him intoxicated with both feet frozen due to no heat. Officers discovered a four gallon copper still and mash from corn prunes apricots raising etc. Moonshine whiskey was found and the sheriff reports Ekdahl in county jail under medical care awaiting recovery before court. Other men were distilling during the night, leaving him alone at dawn.

Successful Concert by Willmar Band at Majestic Theatre

The Willmar Municipal Band gave a well attended concert last Sunday afternoon at the Majestic Theatre. Receipts totaled 150 dollars with single tickets 36 cents. The program earned general approval as the audience repeatedly encored the band and conductor Granoski. A cornet duet by Granoski and Forsberg and a Lucia sextette performed by Gordah pleased listeners, with Miss Gunderson assisting at the piano. A second concert is planned for March in the city.

Arrest of Paul Arrested for Liquor Transport in Willmar

Sheriff Bonde Inet of Willmar reports the arrest of C. B. Van Drake of St Paul on liquor transport charges. A informant tip led to two more arrests with more expected. One defendant pled guilty in court and faced penalties.
