The Kandiyobt County Women’s Institute held its first regular meeting in Odd Fellows Hall. About 40 of 44 members attended as Mrs. F. H. Knox spoke on the group’s purpose. The program included “The Mission of Flowers,” “A More Rational Life for Women,” and “A Stylish Congregation.” Members drafted three essentials for a happy home and formed next meeting committees. The group aims to study homemaking, advise younger women, and progress through state literature and instruction. The club plans to meet again on the last Saturday in February.

Death of Margaret Hunter in Northfield
Northfield received word last Thursday of the death of Miss Margaret Hunter formerly a Willmar public school teacher. Death due to consumption occurred Wednesday morning at her home in Sciota near Northfield. Funeral held Saturday afternoon. Miss Hunter taught in the Seventh and Eighth grades at Central building and was re elected to teach this year but declined because of illness. She had been in poor health since returning home in spring and was well known in Northfield and Willmar circles.

Court in Session as Willmar Jurors Tally Cases
The second week of district court in Willmar closes a busy session with five civil cases aired and twenty nine criminal matters slated. Liquor charges against Cromwell and Miller dominate the docket while true bills were announced for Cromwell Waterman Miller Borg Mossberg. Indictments and pleas were entered. Mossberg noted as not indicted sparked surprise. Several civil suits concluded with verdicts including Hockstein and Benham. $237 and $2379 amounts shift with stays granted. A notable judgment awarded 6100 for injuries after a motor cycle collision. Other trials centered on insurance disputes resolved by settlements totaling 3500.
