Numerous residents and visitors traveled home for Christmas and spent the holidays with relatives in Willmar and nearby towns. Names include Melbostad Nelson Benson Hoglund Allen Lundberg Connor Green Beckman Adams, Hicks, Karen Hanson, Birdie Somerville and many others visiting in Kerkhoven, Raymond, Litchfield, Minneapolis, St Paul, and Davenport area friends and relatives.
Yesterday at 10 am Rev Father McDevitt united Florence Julien and Thorwald Hagen in marriage at the F. E. Ackerman flat. The ceremony was attended by family and friends, followed by a wedding breakfast. They will reside in Duluth with Hagen, a grain company manager, and Miss Julien has long resided in Willmar.
The home of Mr and Mrs Erik Ohsberg hosted a dinner Sunday for Mrs Helen Westbo turning eighty. Guests included August Hoglund and family William Englund and family Alfred Croonquist of Estevan Dana Rev and Mrs G Peterson. Westbo born in Elmebod a Parish Kalmar Lan Sweden came to the U S with her husband about forty years ago homesteading in Kandiyohi in 1868. She lived on the farm until her husband’s death about eight years ago and has since stayed with relatives while maintaining good health.

J. 5. Robbins and others, plaintiffs in injunction against the city over the Foot Lake dam, were served notice of dismissal. New state law voids city authority, directing the matter to be brought before the county commissioners by petition for their decision on action.
Samuel Aspaas and Julia Tarnquist of Lake Lillian were married by Judge A. F. Nordin last Wednesday afternoon. Aspaas resides on his father's farm at Lake Lillian and the couple plan a large number of future endeavors together.
The Swedish Mission announces a Young People social meeting next Thursday at 8 PM in the church auditorium with a short program and refreshments in the parlor. Watchnight service follows Friday at 10:30 PM, then Sunday activities including Sunday school at 9 50 AM and 11 AM preaching, youth gathering at 6 15 PM and evening service at 7 30 PM. Next week prayer and gospel meetings nightly except Saturday at 7:30. Salvation Army notes add services and watchnight Friday, New Year’s Day service, and rally. The Salvation Army and Mission Church Social invite all for year-end events and hospitality.
The Christmas program at Zion church was postponed due to Rev Lokens gaard illness. Augsburg student Lee leads meetings. Nordland church hosts a young peoples festival Thursday evening. Various local residents visit from St Paul Green Lake Fort Ransom and Canada. a 25th wedding anniversary is celebrated with many gifts. New Year services planned by Swedish Missionary and Norwegian Lutheran congregations. a butterfat testing exam and a major fire at Millard Medical Hall noted. several weddings and family visits listed. one child dies from diphtheria.
Christmas Eve and holiday items from Willmar detail railway yard activity. Conductor Cook returns to work after sixty days, Engineer Wright dies at Sioux City, and son Frank takes over his run. A fatal illness ends a long career, while gifts, wedding plans, and social visits fill the season. Local clerks receive pay and gifts. Arvid Carlson receives a $35 gold watch from patrons on his carrier route. Mississippi- area notes include weathered travel and family gatherings in Marshall and Fargo.
Mr and Mrs Lewis Johnson hosted a six o'clock dinner for about 20 relatives and friends. S B Chapin has been promoted to regular postal clerk and will work on Nos 3 and 4 between Willimar and St Paul. Mrs A O Sather entertained relatives and neighbors for her birthday. Epworth League members enjoyed a sleigh ride to Kandiyohi for a Christmas tree festival. Hazel Lien, a clerk in MeVille ND, resigned and will return home Friday. A family reunion occurred at G G Haines with Emma from Cloquet Agnes from Faei and Fred from Towner ND. Anton Ronning, a boilermaker for 12 years, promoted to roundhouse foreman at Watertown SD and left Thursday. family will stay a couple months. Ida and Amanda Roe of this city visited Norway Lake with their parents over holidays. all children were home. Leading Store clerks will have a bobsleigh party tomorrow evening then visit Miss Abigail Edgren at Tripolis. Prof O K Omlie and Elmer Boyd were guests at J B Boyd's for Christmas. Omlie now principal of Glenwood Academy. E W Berg and wife arrived from Waldeck Sask for a visit. Berg may return to Lake Elizabeth. Mrs John Bailey and children of St Paul are guests at the Otos. One third off on all ladies coats and suits at Benison Bros and Jorris.
