Big Christmas Festival Set With Tree and Santa

The first Community Christmas Tree program and festival in Willmar is ready for Thursday evening. The evergreen is up by the flagpole near the Great Northern, lit by electricians as the American Legion handles transport, crowd control, and the school children parade. Santa arrives with gifts for about 2100 children, program starts at 7:30 after a 6:45 assembly time, with Mrs. Sophus Larsen leading carols. The Willmar Municipal band performs, Legion officers supervise, and Ladies Civic Club assist Saint Nick with presents as donations exceed $400.

Dahleen Returns From Visit With Parents In Maynard

Stanley Dahleen came back to Maynard on Wednesday after a short visit with Mr and Mrs Martin Dahleen. Miss Cornelia and Ellen Christopherson left Wednesday for a Christmas vacation at their home in Pennock.

American Legion Banquet Planned for December 29

The Second Annual banquet of the Austin F. Hanscom Post of the American Legion will be held at the Masonic Temple next Wednesday evening at 6 o clock. G A R and Spanish American War veterans will attend as guests. State Commander A H Vernon will speak, with Henry G Young as toastmaster. All service men are invited. reservations with Robert B Johnson by Monday noon. Also lists marriage licenses, births, teachers on vacation, and visiting relatives.

Veterans of 60 and 98 Fraternize at Masonic Banquet

Col Roosevelt Camp No 20 and Col Hegg Post of the G A R plan a joint banquet at the Masonic Temple this evening. No formal program, informal tables and campfire reminiscences will mark the event as the years thin the ranks of the old warriors.

Switchman's leg crushed in Minneapolis yard accident

William Hanes former switchman now in Minneapolis had a leg amputated below the knee at a Minneapolis hospital after an accident at the Clearwater junction yards. He was transferred from this city last summer. The report notes several local holiday notices and personal visits, including plans for church events and creameries, with events in Eagle Lake and nearby towns.

Swan Anderson Remembered as Willmar Leader

Swan Anderson a respected Willmar businessman and senior partner in Anderson Nyquist Co part of the Associated Meat Dealers died last Sunday night after a four year illness. Born in 1866 in Sweden he immigrated at 21 and built a lasting community legacy through Swedish Mission work and family leadership. Funeral services are planned at his residence and Mission Church with interment at Fairview.

Many County Students at Morris School

Kandiyohi County students increasingly attend the West Central School of Agriculture at Morris. Ten county youths, from seven townships, explore home economics, business training, agronomy, and engineering. Students praise the practical laboratory and shop work, dormitory system, and democratic social training, with plans to return January 8th.

Woll to sing at Norway Lake concerts

Carsten Woll renowned Norwegian tenor to perform two concerts at Norway Lake next week. He appears at East Norway Lake church on Wednesday December 29 and at West Norway Lake church near Sunburg on December 30. Accompanied by pianist Mrs Esther Erhart Woll, he brings a world class reputation to the events under Pastor Rev Mons Sotendahl.

Lonien announces the New Willmar Grill opening on Friday December 24 located one block east of Merchants Hotel. Lonien plans big public service and invites locals to dine. Edward Burns Dies From Work Accident at Willmar

Edward F. Burns of Willmar dies after injuries from a Tuesday afternoon railway accident near the coal chute. He sustained spine injuries and paralysis, was taken to Illmar Hospital, and died after lingering between life and death. Burns, born December 5 1860 in Lowell Massachusetts, lived in Meeker county before moving to Willmar in 1900. He leaves a wife Doyle and multiple children, with funeral to be held at St Marys Catholic church conducted by Rev Holland. brothers and half-sisters also mourn with the family.
