Local Notes and Holiday Travels Across Town and Beyond

Sivert Bothen returns from Charlestown N D for holidays. Numerous residents, including Mr. and Mrs. Paulson, Miss Wheeler, Mrs. Moore, Miss Norstedt, Miss Flaten, and Miss Sherman, make visits or attend events in nearby towns. Figures travel to Minneapolis, Winnipeg, Tucson, and Madison for visits, business, or leisure, with several farm and community ties noted. Local doctor visits resume, and plans unfold for Red Cross stamps and winter travel. William G. Russell buys Kandiyohi station lots to launch a paint and wallpaper business in early spring.

Willmar and area railmen active in busy week

Mr and Mrs Lidstone visited the cities returning on the evening train. Conductor Albert Smith went to Watertown to run between Watertown and Huron. John E Losleben leaves for Superior to spend Christmas with relatives. Brakeman Hans N Hanson is sick in bed and improving. Mapes at Maple Plain acting in place of Geo Bolton who moved to Litchfield. Herbert McDonald appointed night yard master in Met. Long’s place. Trains run regularly as Wilmar Division crews work. Snow plows ahead of passenger trains this week. Brakeman James Weir on vacation. will wed in Wisconsin then Chicago trip and settle in Willmar. Weir promoted to freight conductor. Pat H Fahey injured in head-on collision near Herman. taken to Willmar. John E Stoquist and Esther Caroline Peterson wed. to live at 519 Second Street after January 15. Kennedy’s Business College of St. Cloud advertises shorthand, typewriting, bookkeeping, English and mathematics.

Great Northern Winnipeg Flyer Wreck Claims Life

George Hobrough, a Willmar division fireman, was killed when the Great Northern Winnipeg flyer derailed four miles south of Monticello. Rails spread and missing join caused ditching. one other killed and a dozen injured as engines and cars left the track at 45 miles an hour. Over 200 passengers aboard, including University students, aided crews in rescue and moving derailed cars from fire. A general investigation ordered with crew testimony to Minneapolis.

Obituary notices report Karin Stenseth and Mrs. D Gerretson dying after long illnesses and a street car collision. Families attend services in East Norway Lake and Hauge churches while other residents attend Christmas events, school gatherings, and local charity efforts.

Willmar Lodge Officers Elected in Local Fraternal Install

Local chapter Royal Arch Masons installed new officers at Odd Fellows hall with James Ridler of St Paul Grand High Priest and Houghton of Minneapolis presiding. Banquet followed. Ramssett, retiring high priest, presided and praised successor Russell Spicer. Installations planned for January 3 with James Wharton of Duluth to install. Royal Neighbors and Degree of Honor also listed with officers and delegates.

Rebekahs and Triplets in County News

Schollin outer watch financier Nora Elfstrum and a list of members of the Rebekahs and Eastern Star appear in this society brief. Triplets were born to Mr and Mrs Anton Swenson last Thursday two girls and one boy one of the three stillborn and the other two lived only a few minutes all three laid away in one casket. The parents receive sympathy from friends as this is the county's second such record. A baby girl was also born to Mr and Mrs Henry Herman on Seventh street last Friday. Use Timcne postcards.
