Wreck changes life of railroader Devaney at Odessa

Roy Devaney, a Milwaukee locomotive fireman from Marmarth to Moorbridge, helped rescue dead and injured after the Odessa wreck. He described the disaster in Willmar, noting six chances against one for an accident and recounting his city rescue efforts with a sailor boy, a chef, and a policeman. The Odessa crash killed about ten to twelve and injured many, with bodies laid in the town hall morgue and a fire breaking out in overturned cars.

Obituary of Louis Larson founder of New London

Louis Larson pioneer and founder of New London died Friday December 15 at his home after a paralytic episode. Born June 23, 1836 in Restby Sweden he was 75. He married Karin Olson in 1869 and had six children, four of whom survived infancy. Surviving family includes two daughters and several grandchildren. Funeral held at Lebanon church with Rev. Swenson officiating.

Brakeman Beecraft Hurt Jumping Cars in Benson

J T Beecraft a brakeman from Willmar was injured last Thursday in Benson while attempting to jump cars. He was brought to Willmar on the noon train and taken to Bethesda hospital where he soon was able to move about. A farewell surprise honored Mr and Mrs Ed Hendry at Rev Parmeter’s home last Thursday evening with refreshments and a souvenir remembrance.
