Sports to the Rescue by Student Fire Brigade
Elmer Hall a Maple native and university student organized an emergency fire department of fellow roomers to extinguish a blaze at W. S. Lockwood’s home on Fifteenth Avenue Southeast. Lieutenants were William Friend of Buffalo and George Johnson of Willmar. Six students aided, ladders were used, and residents passed water from a second story window. Helga Petterson visited family in St. Paul over the weekend.

Hurt Skating Sunday Evening At Foot Lake
Cird Bergeson son of Mr and Mrs P Bergeson of the city was badly hurt last Sunday evening while skating on Foot Lake. He was knocked down when Harold Severinson collided with him, struck his forehead on the ice and was unconscious for about twenty minutes. He was revived and taken home and confined to bed. It is hoped the effects will not be serious. Tax Receipts Are Apportioned in November 1915
The November 1915 tax settlement totals 89293.30, about 9000 more than 1914. Most funds come from taxes as the real estate tax second half is due November 1. The sum is distributed among state, county, villages, townships and school districts with each receiving its share. State revenue 11660.29 State school 4014.10 Reassessment Money and Credits 2068.80.

Otis Wins $30,000 From Great Northern in U S Supreme Court
Harry Otis of Willmar wins a $30,000 verdict plus nearly $5,000 in interest after the U S Supreme Court upholds Minnesota court rulings in his three year legal battle. He lost a leg in a yard incident with the Great Northern railroad. the case moved through Granite Falls District Court and the Minnesota and U S Supreme Courts with attorney Thomas Davis of Marshall handling the appeal.
