The thirteenth annual convention of the Bricklayers Magons and Plasterers International Union met in Willmar with 25 delegates from state locals. Officers elected include President Nick Veraguth and Vice Presidents A J Schoening and John Hilgelt, with N P Korth as secretary treasurer. A banquet at the Masonic Temple featured remarks by John McLeod of Toronto and civic talks by Charles Cobb of Owatonna and Mayor W E Lawson. Delegates toured Dreamland Theatre and a resolution thanked Willmar officials for hospitality.

Safe Milk Lecture Planned by Civic Groups in Willmar

Hand Crushed In Shredder Injures Willmar Resident
Tom Stobs of south of Willmar suffered a hand injury when his hand was caught in a corn shredder on Friday. He was taken to Willmar Clinic where Dr. B. J. Branton performed finger amputations. The thumb, little finger, and part of the forefinger were saved and he rests at Willmar Hospital.

Paving Assessments Confirmed by City Council
The hearing on paving assessments closed Monday evening with minor changes. The council confirmed the assessments which will be certified to the county auditor. A statement of each property owner’s due amount will be mailed, and payment can be made in full. Most objections were settled. the main issue is owners paying for the squares, a principle needed for future street improvements. The Willmar job is priced lower per square yard than similar projects in other cities this year.

Red Cross fund drives bring in county and city totals
Returns from Willmar and surrounding townships show $1242.55 raised so far in the Red Cross drive, with city totals $773.30 and township and village receipts adding $469.25. The drive praises Red Cross services and expects the final total to exceed last year’s record as more returns come in.
