Kandiyohi County Poultry Group Forms Plan
Twelve Kandiyohi county poultry men met at Willmar Commercial Club rooms to organize a county poultry association. Temporary officers were named M. McIntyre president M. C. Fleslynd vice president Carl J. Sogge secretary and John Tygeson treasurer. A committee will draft a constitution and by laws for a permanent body and a meeting is planned for Dec 19. A poultry show tied to upcoming corn and stock exhibits may be arranged during the Farmers Short Course starting Nov 22 with committee members M McIntyre Sivert Osmondson C L McNelly Amil Dahlheiny and Carl Sogge.

Seminary basketball trials begin as teams form
The Seminary held its annual frat practice in the high school gym with about a dozen candidates trying out. Last year’s regulars return gradually as Downs, Buck, and Bill Johnson may join soon while Kiland Hansen Berg and Cramer top the new players. Four games are planned with Grove City Litchfield and Delano with the teachers prevailing 21 12 in a recent scrimmage. Girls also tried out and will pick a first team shortly.

Olson Sutcliff Wins Big Ditch No 31 Contract Bid
Olson and Sutcliff of Minneapolis secured the largest share of the bid for excavating County Ditch No 31. They will move 590969.16 cubic yards at a total cost of 44066.21 dollars with varying per yard rates. The tiling and scraper work were let to separate bidders, including Henry Western for tiling and Phil J Haley for scraper work. The overall project cost is 71538.78 dollars, slightly above the engineer’s estimate, leaving potential reduction in assessments.

News arrives that Mrs August Lindstrom formerly Christine Molen died in a Swift Current hospital on November 25 after a brief tuberculosis illness. She was 25 last September and had given birth to a son seven weeks prior. She leaves husband two other children and siblings, with family memories in Jewetwater and Lake Elizabeth. Mrs Dorothea Thorpe Estrem died unexpectedly last Thursday after a brain hemorrhage at home in Willmar and New London. Born December 15 1874 she was 38. She leaves a husband Joseph O Estrem four children Edith William Goodwin Malcolm her parents two brothers and three sisters. Funeral services were held at the Synod church with Norwegian and English addresses and a large congregation.

James Bray brakeman aged twenty seven from Willmar was crushed by a rail car while switching at Campbell. Left foot caught in a spring frog, he died almost instantly with serious internal injuries. Funeral services were held in Willmar and Hardened by mourners including six pallbearers. More than fifty people attended the funeral from New London.

Carl Johanson Dies at 77 in Willmar Area
Carl Johanson died Saturday night at his son Otto Johnson’s home west of the city from old age. He was born March 22 1834 in Milsvik Varmland Sweden and married Anna Christina Olsdotter on January 8 1861. Surviving are five sons three daughters and 92 grandchildren. Immigrated to America in June 1888 and lived mainly in this community. Funeral services were conducted by Rev Carl E Oberg Swedish Baptist church with brief home rites before the church service. Pallbearers named C J Ahlstrom John Gabrielson John Landgren Jens Mattson Erick N J Nelson and Christ Larson.
