Rosa Loeb Returns to Belgium After Acquittal

Rosa Loeb, a war bride and former maid for Major Stanley James, was acquitted in Tacoma Washington after a trial over theft charges involving a fur coat and cash. The case followed a tangled sequence of arrests, extradition attempts, and habeas corpus proceedings, ending with her release and plans to sail for Belgium from New York. She expressed relief at being free and headed home as local officials noted her return. Westgaard attended the Tacoma trial as a witness.

Nebraska pastor accepts Tripolis call from Holdrege minister

Rev. Carl G. Olson of Holdrege Nebraska has accepted the pastorate of the Tripolis and Ebenezer Lutheran churches to succeed Rev Tillman. Olson, a Sweden born ordained at Galesburg in 1888, has served several charges with noted pastoral success. The change may occur next spring. Tillman has calls from Appleboro Massachusetts and the Hettinger North Dakota pastorate but has not chosen.

Education Week in the Schools Observed Nationwide

The American Legion, the U S Bureau of Education and the National Education Association announce December 3 to 9 as Education Week. City teachers receive topic filled programs and daily assignments while Legion speakers visit Junior High Senior High Central and other city schools to promote patriotism and citizenship through education.

A false alarm Monday evening drew crowds as residents sought warmth inside. Paul Anderson, county treasurer-elect, underwent an acute appendicitis operation at Willmar Hospital and is improving. Dr C S Anderson hosted a social evening with cards and refreshments at his home.

Willmar Club Eyes Norwegian Reunion and Calendar Plan

At a Willmar Commercial Club gathering, attendees authorized an invitation to Hallinglaget of Hallingdal Norway for a 1923 reunion at the fairgrounds in June. The club also discussed joint marketing for calendars and planned support for a Community Christmas tree with Civic Club and American Legion groups. Mayor Bavett urged addressing city publicity and shared his side on the recent strike, noting minimal trouble at Willmar on the Great Northern.

Sales Days Draw Large Crowds and Prizes

The two sales days on November 28 and 29 drew large crowds from the surrounding country. Kandiyohi County War Record Committee led by H. G. Young approved publishing the Kandiyohi County War Record with about 200 pages and 1000 photographs. Prices drop from 7.50 to 5.00 per volume, with around 700 copies to be printed, work to begin after Christmas and sales expected in February.

Tuberculosis Meeting Invites Public To Courthouse Talk

A tuberculosis meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock at the courthouse. W A Peck Live Stock Commissioner of St Paul and W D Fretz in charge of the states tuberculosis eradication work will address attendees. The notice notes rising livestock tuberculosis affecting cattle hogs and poultry and urges all residents to attend, men and women alike, for united action in the fight.

Memorial Service Held by Local Elks on Sunday

The annual Memorial Service by the local Elks Lodge at the Elke rooms on Fourth Street drew about one hundred attendees. Tributes honored departed members George Pelton M D Manning and J P Hull as Edwin Stenson led the gathering. Vocal duets and a quartet entertained while Rev Walter H Stowe and Rev Don Frank Fenn spoke, and congregants sang several songs.

Presbyterian church forms Boy Scout troop in city

Under Rev J R McCullough the younger boys of the Presbyterian church met Monday night and organized a Boy Scout troop. A formal national structure has not yet been adopted but a solid start exists with three patrols. Rev J A McGullough to serve as scoutmaster. supplies ordered. Honored by Zion parishioners to Rev Lunde

Zion church members honored Rev Lunde after services last Sunday with a surprise in church, a dinner in the basement, and gifts including money. Everson and Berison praised his five years as pastor, the choir sang, and a coffee social was planned by the Swedish Mission church Ladies Aid for Friday afternoon in the basement, with several women serving.

Willmar City Paving Completion Praised by Council

A meeting applauded the completion of major improvements along the Willmar right of way. James F. Moloney from the Great Northern Railway praised fair treatment and reasonable costs. Other speakers, including Ben Benson and Peter Bonde, supported the paving and noted savings, while confirming continued cooperation between the city and railway interests.
