Hawick Creamery Burns to Ground
The Hawick Co operative Creamery was destroyed by fire on Tuesday morning November 23. Overheated stove pipe blamed. Only cream ripener and churn saved. large butter stock removed. Building insured for about 2500 dollars, not fully covering loss. A new creamery planned, 117 shares sold, to be built near former elevator site by May 1, 1921. Cream being collected at E J Hood store and sent to Regal. Hazel Benson spends Thanksgiving at home.

Plans for new hotel in Willmar discussed by Elks Board
The Elks Building Association board favorably considered a four story hotel plan on Elks lot opposite the post office in Willmar. With $150000 estimated cost and 66 guest rooms plus two stores on the ground floor, construction awaits improved money markets and financing, led by E M Bondy of the William Hancke Investment Company. The plan would place the Elk Lodge on the top floor and include lobby dining, guest rooms, baths, and ground floor retail.

Community Christmas Tree Planned bylocal groups
The Womans' Civic Club and the American Legion Post will crew a fine community Christmas tree at the depot flagpole. Committees are at work, with a large tree, city lights, carols led by Nellie Robbins teaching school children, and a Dec. 28 public program for children. The tree will glow nightly to reflect Willmar's Christmas spirit to travelers.

John E. Johnson of Lake Lillian reports back from an eight year old orchard in Sutherlin, Oregon. The eleven acre fruit ranch requires heavy pruning expenses but yields profitable apples selling at two dollars and seventy five cents per box. He sent a box of Speisenbergs to the editor, noting few Oregon apples reach this region.

Willmar Municipal Band Delights Dreamland Audience
The Willmar Municipal Concert Band of thirty members drew a packed house at the Dreamland Theatre last Sunday afternoon despite bad weather. Prof. Hobbie received praise for training the home boys into an efficient organization. The program featured cornet solos by Clarence Granoski selections by the Boys' Band and vocal solos by Mrs Sophus Larsen with another concert announced for January.

First Teacher of Kandiyohi County Passes On
Mrs. Jane E. Clark pioneer woman of Kandiyohi County died November 18 in Irving at her son W H Clark Jr s home. She taught early pioneers near Eagle Lake and Calhoun Lake, married William H. Clark in 1859, and was among Kandiyohi s oldest settlers. Her funeral was November 21 in Paynesville with interment at Union Grove M E churchyard. She survived by her son and ten children total. Peace to her memory.

Returns from the Red Cross drive are still incomplete with only scattered reports to Chairman A A Anderson. Some precincts report they have surpassed their allotments while city totals reflect excellent results from Tag Day, with especially large proceeds. Memorial services by the B P O E lodge will be held at the Elks rooms Sunday at 3 30 pm. Rev McCullough will speak and Prof N B Swalin with his Star orchestra provide music.

Young Man Injured in Collision Near State Hospital
John Dickson of Pennock drove his Ford into a stationary Buick owned by Carl Peterson at the base of a hill near the State Hospital after being blinded by the glare of an oncoming car. Peterson sustained bruises and cuts but others escaped injury. Peterson and Dickson, plus accompanying passengers, were returning from town Wednesday at 11 o'clock. Dr. Freeman treated Peterson at Willmar Hospital. Eight Shorthorns were condemned at Berg’s farm. Thanksgiving visitor notes and local travels also listed.

Severe Injury From Circular Saw At Home
Arthur Hemmingson an 85 year old resident of Peanock was severely injured last Saturday at 11 30 am when a sliding blade of a circular wood saw penetrated to the lower right lung after he fell onto the machine while cutting wood near a pile. Doctors sewed the lacerated tissue and reset three fractured ribs. no major arteries were cut and he was taken to Willmar Hospital where he rested under care.

At Central School Building on November 18 the Industrial Building shone as faculty gathered for the November Faculty Feed hosted by six organizers. Forty two teachers dined at 5 30 testing the culinary skills of the committee with dishes swiftly disappearing. Supt Brohaugh spoke and a tiger of praise praised the cooks before each group hoped their turn to serve would yield similar success. Miss Esther Anderson returned to Minneapolis to teach at Minnehaha Academy.
