Willmar’s fourth annual Street fair and carnival of fun is two weeks away from Sept 14 to 17. The street fair association reports satisfactory progress, boosting premium lists and volunteer judges for cattle, poultry, vegetables, and crafts. Widow Receives 2000 Life Insurance Payment
Mrs. Towey widow of John Towey received a 2000 life insurance payout from the A O U W Grand Lodge, delivered in Minneapolis where she now resides after his July 2 accidental death in Breckenridge yards. Towey joined Willmar Lodge No. 52 in 1909, having paid about seven dollars in fees. Also noted is a 1200 life insurance benefit from the Switchmen’s Union. Wheat in Ben Waterman area yields 23 bushels per acre, No. 2 grade, the largest reported in the vicinity.

The Great Northern plans a new Willmar office beside the railroad bridge and a brick eating house near the depot. The 24 by 126 foot office will house the superintendent and staff at an estimated 84,000, while the 24 by 48 foot restaurant will cost about 3,000 with dining hall and kitchen. Construction aims to start soon and finish this fall, drawing opposition from nearby restaurants relying on train passengers.
