Local residents visit or stay with relatives around Kerkhoven area

Mrs. Jacobson and daughter Ruth spend Thursday in Spicer. Many locals travel between trains or visit relatives and friends in Kerkhoven, Benson, Paynesville, Stillwater, Browns Valley, Minneapolis, and other nearby towns. Several guests, a few students and officials, are noted, including Edith Estrem, Beasie Stahl, Dor othy Nelson, and Gertrude Wilson among others.

Norwegian Church Jubilee Observed at Crow River Church

A fiftieth anniversary celebration for the first distinctive Norwegian church in Kandiyola county, then Monongalia, will be held at Crow River church in Burbank next Sunday September 3. Services begin 11 am with D C Jordahl speaking and missions offering. Dinner is free in the grove at the parsonage. Rev N Giere will address, followed by Dr E O Giere. Music by two bands and two choirs. An offering for church extensions will be taken. Rev T C Tolo invites all to attend. he edited a historical album of early members, a notable county record. Other notes: Carl Mostue visited the city. Samuel Nelson left for Kato to attend a State Luther League convention.

Forsberg Is Commissioner Forsberg Is Commissioner

August O. Forsberg of Willmar was elected County Commissioner from the First District to succeed the late Thomas H. Olson. The balloting began with ten electors at 2 o clock and showed several candidates receiving votes on first ballot. After multiple ballots no clear choice emerged, a compromise candidate Nl. P. Eddy drew four votes with Stob three and Bergstrom eight in later rounds.

Forsberg Chosen as Second Candidate by Mamre and Whitefield Chairs

The Mamre and Whitefield township chairmen backed a second compromise candidate who won on four votes. The final ballot showed Forsberg with six votes, Stoh and Haley with three each. Forsberg, initially surprised, qualified and filed his oath of office, with broad district approval and Tribune confidence in his service to the county.

Visiting Brother After Wife Dies in Dakota Home Fire

Andrew Hanson travels west from Willmar after learning his brother Hans P Hanson, living near Berlin Dakota, lost his wife Daisy Campbell in a gasoline stove fire. The blaze trapped her as the husband broke out a window to help, but she died after three hours. Hans owns 160 acres but lost all personal effects. he escaped with minor burns.

Church notices fill Willmar county column week

A county church notices column lists sermons services and events at Epworth League meetings Bible classes and prayers. It notes nearby towns Willmar Mamne Bethel and Paynesville hosting games lectures and society meetings with many residents visiting relatives and attending services and district gatherings.

Street Fair preps with dairy prize and buttons in Willmar

The Willmar Street Fair opens in two weeks with a $50 silver prize cup for the best county dairy herd on display at Anderson Bros. jewelers. Superintendent McNelly plans additional cash prizes and a tent exhibit. Premiums, a stock show start, and street fair buttons draw interest as contestants vie for prizes in automobile and piano standings. The Ladies department will enforce county-raised rule for prize eligibility.

Emil Lundquist visits the city and Miss Geraldine Haley visits Minneapolis. Numerous residents with relatives in Pipe Stone, St Paul, Pennock, Winnipeg, Centerville, Red Wing, Lake Andrew and New London share weekend visits. Included are birthday celebrations, church activities, renovations at the Synod basement, health briefings on well water, and sympathy notices for the Gunderson family over Edna Mildred Geraldine’s death.

Bricklayers Union Organized in Willmar Yesterday

A local unit of the Bricklayers Masons and Plasterers International Union was formed in Willmar yesterday morning. The new union includes state building workers and local tradesmen with Minneapolis leaders George E Prescott Matthias Leumann and William Vaudrin guiding its establishment. Willmar Union becomes No 24 in Minnesota.

Redwood Autos Tour Delayed By Accident Near Willmar

The Redwood Falls Family Sociality Tour of automobiles arrived in Willmar about 11 o clock Monday. An accident four miles south of the city left one car off the embankment and a broken wheel, delaying 23 autos and 92 people for about an hour. The group, no racing, traveled at 20 mph, ate dinner at Interlachen Hotel on Green Lake, then stayed overnight in St. Cloud before continuing to Minneapolis and home to Redwood Falls. Mrs. Oliver Larson hosted at Interlachen Hotel Saturday dinner for Rev. Booth, Mrs. Elmer Adams, Gene Parks and Hida Hand with twenty two covers.
