Great Northern Extends Platforms at Depot for Safety

The Great Northern is extending platforms at the depot by 60 feet west and 90 feet east to provide more space for noon trains. Previously trains stood side by side causing crowding and danger as passengers moved between trains. The improvement aims to reduce accidents and improve safety for travelers arriving on multiple trains.

Free Delivery Expected as Inspector to Visit Willmar

Postmaster Birch reports the Washington post office department will dispatch an inspector to Willmar to assess free delivery readiness. Location of residence districts sidewalks streets and house numbers must meet requirements. Birch welcomes the move as it should hasten service with possible May inauguration.

Early Morning Eclipse Seen Over Willmar

Residents who rose early witnessed the sun rising through blood red clouds eclipsed by the moon. The disk appeared three-fourths obscured at first and the sun rose higher, with only a small portion of the lower left rim hidden by 6:30. The eclipse ended by 6:35, inspiring but noted as limited public turnout.

Will Have One More Park Near Fifth Street

Work crews are preparing a new park in the hollow north of Fifth Street. Grass and trees will be planted in a triangular park about 85 feet on each side, surrounded by a twenty foot graveled driveway, enhancing Pacific avenue’s appearance.

Willmar Street Fair prep includes Hill address and exhibits

Willmar plans for the street fair include a lecture room at the library and a speech by James J. Hill, with Friday Sept 22 as a likely date. Atwater Wedding Celebrates Local Nuptials in Atwater

A home wedding at the Henry Felg residence in Atwater united Misa Dirt Mine of Atwater and Hugo W. Mayor of Portage Wisconsin. The ceremony by Rev. F W Erthal drew sixty guests with music by Ruby Olson. The couple will reside in Fonta Michigan after a reception in Portage. The bride is a saleslady at F A Anderson’s store and the groom previously taught in Harrison parochial school.

Willmar City Council Debates Roads and Lights

Proceedings of the Willmar Minnesota city council adjourned and regular meetings on August 18 and 28 1905. Topics include bids for an alternator and engine for the water and light plant, a six foot cement walk on block 50 lots 4 5 6 7, Woods removal notices, approval of bills and a bond road query. Peace Terms Agreed Upon

A report states peace commissioners have agreed and the accords will be signed this Tuesday afternoon. Hundreds of thousands of wives, mothers and children face a hopeful day, with relief clubs preparing aid.
