Former Master Mechanic G A Bruce Dies In Minot Hospital

The city mourns G A Bruce former Master Mechanic on the G N Railroad who died after an operation for acute appendicitis at Minot Hospital following his touring the Northwest Division. The funeral was held at the Universalist Church in St Paul with local attendees noted.

Obituary of Mary Lof longtime Mamre settler dies at 96

Mrs Mary Lof also known as Maria Swenson Lot died at her daughter J O Hagmans home in Matre on Monday August 26 at age 96 years 4 months and 15 days. Born in Malung Parish Sweden on April 11 1822 she married Jonas Swenson Lot in 1848 and emigrated with children to America twenty years later settling on a homestead in section 24 town of Mamre Kandfyohi county.

Long obituary notices for Hanson and Hagman families

Two death notices from Minnesota area detail the families of Mrs. Mathias Hanson and Mrs. J. O. Hagman. Mrs. Hanson, 55, died at Swedish Hospital Minneapolis after pleurisy and complications, survived by husband, five children, thirteen grandchildren and three sisters. Funeral held at Lutheran Free Church with Rev Nicoley Nilsen officiating. pallbearers included local men. Mrs. Hagman, age 68, died at Hagman home following years of ill health and is survived by husband and four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mrs W B Hanson Rites Held For Norse Born Wife

Mrs Eline Hanson died at 960 Olof Avenue after two years of illness. Born in Ringsager Norway on June 6 1862 she came to the United States age seven with her parents Ole Jorgensborg and wife. She married William B Hanson in 1889. Survived by husband and five children Arthur Clifford Norman Mary Arnold. two sons in military service Arthur in a machine gun company and Clifford in the marines. Funeral held Tuesday with services at home and Synod church conducted by Rev J N Andersen. Interment in Synod cemetery. Pallbearers listed.

Surgical Dressing Drive Urged For August Allotment

Surgical dressing workers are urged to attend Thursday afternoon and evening to complete the August allotment. A truck driver named Ingvald Qvale suffered deep, painful cuts after a highway accident when his load of ice and lumber shifted. He escaped serious injuries. his cab was wrecked and his wounds are healing. The Goldenrod Farmers Club heard a talk by Sergeant Earle H Frye on Army life, with musical numbers and a Red Cross fund. A 340 foot tubular well near the Roundhouse yielded soft water for local needs after two weeks of work.

County Sends Fourteen Sons to Camp Grant

The county offered fourteen boys Monday for strenuous training to aid the cause. The station overflowed with relatives bidding farewell as the boys departed at three for a soldier’s dinner in St Paul before boarding a special train to Chicago and then Camp Grant Illinois.

Old School Bell Will Ring Again in Willmar

Willmar Public Schools open next Monday at nine for enrollment and book assignment. Regular class work starts Tuesday with a largely new teaching staff.
