Willmar Street Fair Promises Big Annual Event

Willmar holds its third annual street fair promising larger exhibits and attractions. Local merchants farmers and Kandiy County residents are urged to attend for four days of safe family fun with balloon ascensions parachute leaps high diving feats loop to loop shows and concerts by Meola Alpins band plus performances by Vallero Duo and Signor Frisco.

Conductor Harry Smith Injured Ejecting Drunk Passenger

Conductor Harry Smith, upon arrival of train No 5 from St Paul, was taken from the Great Northern depot to Grand Central for medical care after severely straining his back while ejecting a drunken tramp at the Soo junction north of Minneapolis. He returned to St Paul this afternoon. The assailant resisted and four men helped subdue him.

Little Eva Johnson Hurt In Scantling Nail Accident

Eva Johnson, daughter of S P Johnson, fell from a 2x4 piece with rusty nails, cutting a deep gash above the knee. Dr McLaughlin treated her with several stitches, and she is now recovering well with no serious complications expected.

Sunday at Spicer excursion attracts Benson visitors

Three hundred four tickets were sold for the Spicer excursion, with many Benson residents arriving to see Green Lake. High winds made boating and sightseeing challenging.

Train Delay After Accident Near Cokato

The St Paul Winnipeg train failed to arrive by 11:10 p m Saturday due to a wreck near Cokato. The middle driver’s journal broke and part of the aide rod dropped the wheel, stopping the engine after about two train lengths. Engineer Chas Lowe halted the crippled locomotive. The Willmar Soo City train assisted, delaying arrival until 7 a m Sunday. repairs followed and service resumed with a heavier engine.

Local youths suffer field accident and wedding noted

Lawrence Pederson son of John Pederson of Kandiyobi was injured when kicked by a pasture horse while plowing with his father. He received stitches for a forehead wound and is recovering. Miss Maude Davis married Lafayette G. Nelson at the M E parsonage. They depart for Willmar and future home in Minnesota.

State Fair Program Promises Notable Year Ahead

The Minnesota State Agricultural Society will publish the Officis Program of the State Fair with a stylish cover by Naughton of the Minnespolia Tribune. The world famous pacing horse Dan Patch aims to lower the 1 50 record on opening day August 31 as Barried Today. A marriage license was issued Monday to Gomme Holmquist and Anne Malinda Abrahamson of New London. The ceremony is at 4 30 this afternoon at the Swedish Lutheran church Rev Colia officiating. A reception follows at the bride's parents’ home.

St. Cloud pair returned after fugitive journey

Sheriff John P. Bernick escorted Miss Augusta Kendal fifteen and Elmer Clark from St. Cloud as prisoners. The couple ran away about three weeks earlier with Kendal claiming Clark was her husband. They traveled to Paynesville New London Benson where Clark worked at a hotel. August Kendal filed a warrant, and police tracked them down at Benson. They appeared cheerful as they headed home to confront the father and justice.

Willmar Parks Spreader on Pacific Avenue

The Great Northern finished grading a new park along Pacific Avenue in Willmar, the street running parallel to the railroad by the depot. Two years ago the Women’s Improvement League and the railroad aided in converting the street into a park, prompting Clara City to consider similar action for Spicer Avenue with railroad support to improve the right of way.

Olson and Soderling to Open Tailor Shop in Willmar

Alfred Olson and A H Soderling plan a new tailor shop named Olson and Soderling on Benson avenue in Willmar. The enterprise will open in about two weeks. Soderling has 17 years in the trade in Willmar. Olson brings broad experience from Minneapolis and previously worked in Murdock.

Arrested for Fast Driving in City Court

Speeding youths amused themselves by racing through the streets until stopped by the city marshal. They pled guilty and the judge imposed a fine of one cent and costs totaling 301 dollars, a warning to drive cautiously, especially in the evening.

Children of the Lutheran Free church staged a lively Sunday program at the church to close six weeks of parochial school. Rev. Gynild spoke on school importance. M L Hostager and Milas Mattie John 00 were highlighted for their leadership in the upper and secondary departments.

Judgments Entered in Two Cases at District Court

Two judgments were entered Monday in the clerk of court’s office. Erick Dalen Threshing Company of Ole Rime Norway Lake faced a judgment of 304.92 for the plaintiff. Lahoda Brow va Joseph Blecha Roseland town faced a judgment of 66.72 against the defendant. Both cases were tried at the last term of district court. Will Play at Kerkhoven. Willmar and Kerkhoven meet next Sunday at 2 30 o clock at Istter grounds. The Kerkhoven team is strong and the Willmar squad will have a tough game. Photographers Meet. The Northwestern Photographers Association holds its annual Minneapolis session this week starting today for four days with Willmar photographers attending. A day at Minnetonka is planned. Bethany society of the Lutheran Free Church will meet at O Salverson’s home next Friday evening with an interesting program and refreshments for all.

Car jumped the track injuring a passenger rider

A refrigerator car jumped the track near the coal chute injuring Turner who was riding the car. He suffered several bad cuts to the head and possible internal injuries. He was taken to Frost hospital in critical condition.
