Big Luther League Convention Highlights and Speakers

A crowded convention featured sermons and addresses by ministers Rev. A. U. and Rev. H. X, with discussion of church unity and faithful living. Delegates from multiple regions attended as pastors and lay members shared reports and outlined aims for community outreach and religious education.

Local residents relocate to Minneapolis residence on Fourth Ave

Mr anaits and Mr Simons with Blanche left the forepart of the week for Minneapolis where they will reside at 2612 Fourth Ave South. Mr Simons held the position of grain sampler there for over three years and was transferred to Minneapolis. Mr Simons has been a city resident since 1902.

Bicycle Car Collision on First Street Injures Youth

Renard Poss aged 26 son of Ole Foss is hospitalized after a bicycle rider collided with a car on First Street last Sunday evening. Eyewitness O E Bengtson and spouse were driving north. Foss rode south without lights. The bicycle was badly smashed and Foss suffered serious injuries. he was rushed to Wilmar Hospital.

Two fast games set for next Sunday at Wall Park

Two fast ball games are scheduled for Sunday at Wall Park West. The first features Lake Lilian and Priam versus Lake Lillian with Griffin and Irestrom pitching for Prisa Thiesen. The second game pairs Willmar against Maynard with Harold Johnson of Minneapolis assigned to the mound. Maynard owns a strong season record and has largely dominated thus far.

Barker's Poland sale a success at Farmers Warehouse

Marker's sale of Poland China breeding stock at the Co-Op Farmers Warehouse drew about three hundred attendees. Sixty one animals sold with top prices of 5224, 2000, and 1000, totaling 1 500. Willmar community praised Barker as a local asset as a banquet and program followed at the Masonry building with Mrs. J. D. Varnell guiding performances.

Rural routes expand from Willmar mail delivery

Willmar will establish five rural carrier routes effective September 1 with parcel delivery by a special carrier, serving over a hundred families previously lacking morning mail. Boxes will be placed on Trott and Becker avenues, with delivery to be completed by about eight o’clock. The change aims to provide prompt morning mail and included parcels, though it falls short of full city carrier service.

Christensen to Speak Saturday in Minnesota Event

Parley Parks Christensen a former labor ticket nominee for president will speak Saturday afternoon at Willmar under the National People's League. He promotes government ownership of railroads and public utilities. Delegations are expected from far and wide with music by the Willmar Band and a possible evening meeting at Park Auditorium.

Expert shoe throwing in trial tournament dominates local meet

The Dodge Service Station area hosted a horse shoe event with Melvin Johnson securing top singles honors after beating Bob Johnson A Nordstrom and P Peterson in elimination rounds. Johnson and V Bergquist led Johnson Blomquist in team play, with Bergquist Holmberg and Wahlstrand Nordstrom also reaching later rounds.

Labor Day Fest Planned in Willmar by Local Labor Groups

Organized labor in Willmar plans a monster Labor Day celebration inviting citizens and county farmers. Committees for parade, speakers, finances, refreshments, decorations, sports and fireworks meet to finalize arrangements. Events include a 1:30 p.m. start at Court House grounds, a parade to Homewood Park, a big picnic, a 3:30 p.m. Willmar versus Fort Snelling ball game, children’s sports, an 8 p.m. meeting and fireworks. Speakers include Gale Flaeman, Homer Cook, and Rev. O. J. Kvale.

Great Northern to Install Track Scales at West End

The Great Northern Railway plans a track scale installation at Willmar yards, north of the elevators near the west, with foundation work underway after excavation. Also notes a parcel shower for Edith Nelson with many guests and gifts, and announces Edith Nelson’s engagement to Roy Haugen of Montevideo with a September wedding planned.

Hanson Addition Sale Sees Sold Out in Willmar

The Home Savings Investment Company reports a complete sale of all lots in Hanson's Addition, with strong advertising drawing a large crowd despite rain. Dozens of buyers, including locals and out of town traders, purchased at median prices. a free lot drawing saw 32 Olson win a prize. The event highlighted Willmar's growth and the company’s active leadership and plans to expand in the region.

Free Band Concert Thursday Evening on Court House Yard

Director Hobbie announces the Waim ar Band will give another free concert Thursday evening on the Court House yard. Also listed are four marriage licenses with names and dates. Mr and Mrs S W De Camp returned Thursday from a two week visit to Hartington and other Nebraska points.
