Willmar District Luther League Confab Set for Weekend
The tenth annual Willmar District Luther League convention unfolds Saturday and Sunday at Pennock with delegates from congregations, pastors, and members. A 3 PM business session kicks off Saturday, followed by an 8 PM program with Rev. A F Almer and Gilbert Benetson. Sunday includes 10 AM high mass with Holy Communion led by Revs. LeVander, Almer, and Seautrand, a sermon by Rev. Rast, a 2:20 PM afternoon program featuring Prof. Wahlstrand, and an 8 PM closing meeting with music and readings.

Boy Hurt In Fall Fractures Left Leg At Home
Three year old Lawrence Klingenberg son of Mr and Mrs Victor Klingenberg suffered a severe fracture of the left leg when he ran into a table while playing with other children in their home. He was taken to Willmar Hospital for treatment and will be confined for five to six weeks.

Willmar Band Plans Thursday Courthouse Concert
The Willmar Municipal Band will perform this Thursday evening at the courthouse car park. Ford Touring Car Stolen From Hutchinson Party
A 1917 Ford touring car stolen from Christ Jepsen of Hutchinson between Third and Fourth Street West on Becker Avenue. The car, license 67 680, was left at seven and missing by nine. Jepsen works at County Ditch No. 47 west of the city. The incident highlights local vehicle theft in Hutchinson.

Fatally Burned While Playing With Matches
The two year old Winifred La Due daughter of Dr and Mrs Nelson La Due died twelve hours after a dress fire caused by her playing with matches in Hill City. She was buried after a Lutheran Free church funeral led by Rev E Gynild at Fairview cemetery.

Two County Boys to State Fair Honor
Clarence Melbye and Edward Peterson of Atwater were awarded a free round trip to the 1922 Minnesota State Fair from September 2 to 9. They will join a camp of pig club workers with meals lodging and all features provided, and will usher in grandstand programs. Both boys earned honors in county fair pig club work.

National Guard Fights Fires Moves to Duluth
Co. E of the city moved from Lake City to Duluth to battle a forest fire. Capt. Henry G. Young set orders for 6 P M and the unit left Lake City at 8 18 P M joining Worthington’s company. Nine teen men accompanied from Duluth toward Kelsey while several remained behind at Lake City awaiting word on return plans.

Military Burial Honors for Ingvald J Sletten at Solomon Lake
Full military honors marked the funeral of Ingvald J Sletten at Solomon Lake church and cemetery. Former comrades carried the flag bedecked casket and members of the Austin F Hanscom Post of the American Legion attended. A firing squad fired three volleys at the grave and two bugle calls followed. Sletten died August 17 at St Thomas Hospital Minneapolis after a four month illness with tuberculosis.

Willmar Man Ingvald Sletten Remembered in Obituary
Ingvald J. Sletten born January 22 1891 in Willmar grew up on a Mamre township farm. He served in World War I enlisting August 14 1918 and served with motor transport units in Texas before discharge. He was survived by parents siblings and other relatives and funeral rites were held at Solomon Lake church with Rev Arnt Vaaler officiating and interment in the church cemetery.

Alexandria tournament sees Lightner and Tallman place
Open golf event hosted in Alexandria last Friday and Saturday featured all amateurs. Miss Lightner won the ladies cup with Miss Tallman finishing third. Five local families are leaving for the twin cities to reside. Four head to Minneapolis and one to St Paul. Emi Capison and family depart Monday for Minneapolis and will lodge at the YMCA building in La Salle until September 1. A Minneapolis youth named Benjamin Van Kaplan confessed to stealing a truck from Troy Laundry and Cleaners. Police found a note attached to the vehicle saying the car was stolen and the writer planned to end it all. The boy, a former statewide student at Faribault, was returned to authorities and will likely be sent back to the state school. The laundry recovered the car. Willmar resident dies in rural Willmar accident
E A Erickson, a well known city resident and former Whitefield township member, was killed Thursday evening when a Ford truck driver Peter Anderson made a turn at First and Minnesota. Erickson, seated with Maurice Dahlheim, fell off as the end gate was lowered and he stepped too far back, dying from the fall after assisting his son in law with threshing.

Swedish farmer Erick Erickson dies after long life in Minnesota
Erick A. Erickson, born January 20, 1864 in Skol Ose Sweden, died after a fatal accident when struck by a truck he may have stepped in front of. He immigrated at 4 with family to Minnesota in 1868, settled in Whitefield township, raised a family, and served as township supervisor and school board member. He was a charter member of the Swedish Baptist church in Willmar. Funeral services were held August 22 at his residence with floral tributes and bearers listed.

Spicer Driver Fined After Speeding Confession
Justice Buckley and Mippion faced charges in Spicer after pleading guilty to speeding an automobile. The driver was fined ten dollars and costs following a complaint by Peter Bonde who arrested him for driving at four miles an hour above the limit in the village.
