Hans Johnson returns from Denmark trip. Numerous residents and visitors travel among Willmar, New London, Minneapolis, and other towns for visits, work, or relocation. Entries include births, engagements, parish events, school staff changes, and upcoming concerts and social gatherings.
Mrs Margaret Wicklund wife of Rev E P Wicklund died Saturday at about 9 am at the family farm in Pabluo. Born August 24 1830 in Goarpwocken Sweden she immigrated in 1864 and helped found Kandiyohi county life. Survived by husband and many children including Mrs Gustaf Lunddalat Mrs John M Olson Mrs G A Anderson Mrs M Youngren Mrs John E Olean John Wicklund Albert and Peter. Funeral Monday from Swedish M E church Kandiyohi with Rev A E Lind officiating. Burial at local cemetery. She and her family endured early Minnesota frontier hardships from Swede Lake to Lake Elizabeth to Taylor's Falls and Forest City Meeker county. She was mother of the first white child born in Pabluo, Mrs Job Olson.
Martin Olson acquires F W Segerstrom & Co furniture and music business in Willmar for six thousand dollars. Olson to run Willmar Furniture Store with son Marcus. Segerstrom to move to Minneapolis October to join brother in piano business. Also note Rev Wm Fritz Yellowstone Park lecture at M K church with admission 25 and 15 cents. Bank of Willmar to sell county ditch bonds at six percent.
The district court adjourned after hearing motions in Mincesots vs Berting Estem over paid taxes. A. O. Bryant received a one week delay to prepare a bill of exceptions. J. F. Speed, jailed for liquor, requested a commitment. granted. The Wegner ditch petition was submitted for viewer report and ditch establishment. Court recessed until 2 p.m.
The telegraphers strike on the Great Northern and Northern Pacific Railways has ended. Public service has resumed and freight and passenger operations are returning to normal. Operators express dissatisfaction with union handling, calling the affair a failure. Great Northern workers voted 556 of 800 to return. Willmar operators resume, with others like Hanscom, Casoolly, Shannon, Kennybring noted at various locations.
John B. Agen & Co announces plans to build a cold storage plant near the old roundhouse, a 150 by 100 foot structure with full basement and two stories. The firm, growing since last season, aims to expand egg and poultry trade and employ more workers as markets improve and adoption across small farms increases. Former Willmar teacher to wed in Carver. A wedding will unite Miss Sadie Johnson and Clarence Punk in a quiet ceremony witnessed by relatives. Druggists organize Kandiyohi Meeker counties form association, elect officers and join the national group. Whistle of threshing engines and farm work resume as weather allows. Mr. and Mrs. F J King of Chicago visit. plan to depart for Green Lakes with Boal family for a week.
Reporters describe a severe storm last Sunday evening across Kandiyohi and nearby counties with heavy wind, fallen trees, damaged barns, scattered hay and grain, and livestock losses. In Renville and McLeod counties farms suffered extensive damage including destroyed buildings and uprooted trees. one man died near Pilot Mound, and two others were seriously injured at St. Cloud Sauk Rapids.

Miss Ceall Moley of Madison stayed with H J Henjum. Mabel Negord of St Paul planned to return home. A group visited Norway Lake for a Making trip. Miss Otlos Stal arrived from Amherst for a visit to St Paul planned soon. An ice cream social at A Gordhammers lawn Norway Lake hosted by the Y P S next Sunday afternoon. Dr Spesd the Sploar druggist to take a new boarder at the county hospital.
A neighborly roundup details visits by Mr and Mrs M L Rusted to Magnus Olson, and brisk social events among Lake Andrew residents in Mare Norwey. It notes a Y P A ice cream social, trades in farm equipment, and a warning about driving through pastures. A Jericho dogcatcher joke closes with a moral. Hawk Creek Ditch Hearing reports a court order for an additional bond of 1000 and plans to appoint viewers. the 50 mile ditch from Fénards to Hawk Creek could cost about 58000 funded by benefit assessments. attendees listed from Raymond area attend the hearing amid strong local interest.
Willmar is hosting at least 96 dagoes forming a work gang east of town. They live in special Great Northern Pullman Palace cars on a siding near the yards, cook their own meals, wash their clothes, and keep orderly quarters. Interviewed men spoke little English. most expect to work for Jim Hill through fall, then move to Chicago for winter.

Fripolis will hold a communion service at the Lutheran church at 10 30 a m next Sunday. The G A College Quartet gave a concert there Sunday evening to a fair sized audience, closing their concert tour for the project. Weather has hindered stacking but some farmers still have good piles. others are not yet half done. Professor Fridolph Liodbolm of Rockford School of Music is spending two weeks with family after a year of hard work. He resumes by Gret of next month.
Colfax reports Aug 1 visits by Harry Larson and parents at Irving. Christ and Baornt Olson join the Warner Telephone line. Harvest mostly good except flax, with late stacking underway. Carl Thorson hauls lumber for a barn this fall. Aurora Young People’s Society met with Even Olean despite rain attendance thin. Miss Cora Johnson of Granite Falls visits Miss Clara Hase od. plans to return home tonight. Miss Hattie Hanscom returns from Miles yesterday after visiting friends and relatives.
