Willmar Green House Sold to Iowa Firm

Crook sells the Willmar Green House to Kal A. Haltenhoft of Waterloo Iowa who takes charge Monday. Confirmation Alumni Hold Farewell Reunion at Willmar

The Confirmation Alumni of the United Lutheran Synod church held its last reunion with Rev J. N. Andersen as pastor. Sixteen classes confirmed by him at Willmar attended a two hundred cover banquet with white and gold decor. A four course dinner and a program of solos and toasts preceded a farewell talk, after which the group voted to continue the organization and elected officers for the coming year. It was declared the best attended reunion yet.

Ladies Society Honors Two Departing Members

The Ladies Society of the Synod church honored departing Mrs Stromseth and presented Rev. 4. N. Andersen with a farewell gesture at an August 12 outing hosted by Mrs. O. N. Stramseth. Stromseth framed the pastor’s departure as goodwill, gifting the Andersen family a silver serving set and Stromseth received a mirrored table memento for the occasion.

State W C T U State Convention in Willmar

Delegates and visitors about 250 arrive for the State Convention of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union in Willmar. A lakes trip and a banquet are planned, with a detailed program including speeches, hymns, and reports, spanning August 96 to August 29. The event features window displays and notable local participation from the East Vinje church community.

Obituary of Olof Granquist Former Willmar resident dies

Olof Granquist died Tuesday morning at his home on Auguste Avenue E after a stroke. Born September 12, 1845 in Mockfjard Swea am he came to the United States in 1865 and Kandiyohi County in 1870. He married Carrie Johnson in 1875 and leaves six children, a brother, two sisters and many relatives. Funeral services will be held Friday at Bethel Lutheran and Svea church with interment at Svea cemetery.

Wendell Linner Dies After Auto Crash in St Paul

The Minneapolis Journal reports Wendell Tinner of 1608 West Minnehaha St St Paul seriously injured when his car collided with Dr HO Skinner’s on Centerville road near St Paul late yesterday. A Gustavus Adolphus College graduate class of 1917, he was a lyric chorus spokesman and well known in the city.

Death of Gustaf J. Boom in Lake Elizabeth area

Gustaf Julius Boom a longtime Lake Elizabeth resident and former town clerk died unexpectedly August 15 after bladder surgery. Born December 24, 1853 in Vinjan Sweden he moved to America in 1869 and to Dovre county later. He served as deacon trustee of the Swedish Baptist church and left a large circle of neighbors and nine surviving children. Funeral services were held at the family home and the Lake Elizabeth church with interment at the church cemetery.

Hawick Welcomes Returning Servicemen in Community Gathering

Hawick held a homecoming at the town hall inviting veterans from Rosemia Irving New London and Paynesville. The hall was crowded with many standing and visitors from a broad area. Speakers Abbott Johnson Nelson Rodsgeld and others praised the boys and local patriotism. The event included lunch, fellowship, and dancing, plus notes on veteran services and state tuition for returning soldiers.
