New London Man Sued for Fifty One Thousand Dollars

A Minneapolis accident involving W S Johnson and associates led to a lawsuit for 51000 dollars plus expenses after their auto struck M A Schae a sugar broker injuring his right hip. Johnson accepts no blame and has engaged lawyers in St. Cloud. The suit awaits October court date amid protestations of fault.

Willmar Street Fair Seeks Countywide Support and Premiums

The Willmar Street Fair, five weeks away, urges citizens and businesses to devote effort and funds to ensure a grand display of Horticultural Agricultural and Farm Animal exhibits. Carl Gustaf Skoog dies in St Paul at nearly 70. He was a Swedish-born blacksmith and gospel preacher who led emigrants to Minnesota from Michigan. Death in Heat Claims Westbank Worker

John McCauley, a field hand for R. Platow of Westbank, Swift County, died after intense heat last Wednesday. Found unconscious in a field, he did not regain consciousness. Authorities received no reply to telegrams to Phoenixville, PA, where relatives were said to live, and he was buried Saturday at Benson.

First Wheat Yield Report From New London Farm

The county reports its first wheat yield from C. M. Lawson’s farm in New London. The crop gave 23 bushels per acre and graded No 1. Oats and barley yields are generally good.

Funeral for Sweden Victim Held at Lebanon Church

The family mourns the untimely death of a daughter with a funeral held last Friday at Lebanon church in New London. Rev. A Seastrand preached the sermon and officiated at the grave in the family lot in the churchyard.

Mrs Hanna Aspaas Dies at Advanced Age in East Lake Lillian

Mrs Hanna Aspaas widow of Iver C Aspaas of East Lake Lillian died Tuesday evening at her home in the township after a long life marked by hardship and pioneer settlement. Born March 13 1819 in Ibestad Norway she was about 90 years five months old. She married Iver Aspaas in 1844 and three children were born, only Peder Simon of Lake Jillian survives. The family came to the U S in 1862, lived in Chicago three years, then settled on a homestead in section 8 township 117 range 38 before moving to a second farm near the Renville county line in 1891 where they resided thereafter. Funeral held Friday at home and at Norwegian M E St Luke's church.

Fifth Annual Flower Show by Housekeepers Club

The Fifth Annual Flower Show is planned for Thursday and Friday with a two day program. Old Soldiers Celebrate Picnic At Eagle Lake

Members of the Col. Hegg Post and families gathered at Eagle Lake for a commemorative picnic marking 25 years since the post was organized. Old soldiers and their families prepared and served a noon lunch, guests of honor throughout the event.

4' Ole Nicholson, owner of the commercial hotel, returned Saturday from a westward tour. He praised western hospitality and cities, though noting limited opportunities for youth here. The trip left him rested as he resumes hosting guests. Charles Erick Granlund of Minneapolis married Clara Cecilia Norman in Mamre with Rev. G. Peterson officiating. The couple will reside in Minneapolis where he works as a barber. The Norman family extends best wishes for a long, happy marriage.

Frightened Girl Dies After Schoolhouse Incident

In Kerkhoven a six year old girl Theressa, daughter of the postmaster, died after being frightened by a group of boys near a schoolhouse as four young girls, all under 12, walked home at dusk. The event followed a prank that sent Theressa running into the street where she collapsed. Despite efforts by bystanders and a doctor, she did not recover. An inquest was planned as authorities and grieving family consider the act of the hoodlum youths. Funeral services were held the next day amid community sorrow.

Dalecarnian Family Reunion Honors Axel Mattsson

A family reunion occurred at the Matts Granquist home in Tripolis last Sunday in honor of Axel Mattsson of Mockfjord Sweden with about 75 relatives attending. Conductor James P Fitzgerald of this city won a land prize in the Flathead reservation lottery, drawing number 4260.

Farm Hand C A Larson Killed in Farm Accident

A farm hand named C A Larson died Tuesday morning after a team he was handling on the H Backer farm six miles east of Clara City in Kandiyohi county lunged forward. Standing beside the wagon rack, he struck a lazy horse with a fork, the rack striking his neck as the team jumped. Despite witnesses and a coroner inquiry, Larson aged about fifty died at the scene. He had worked on the Backer farm two months last spring and had ties claimed to Montevideo. Burial was arranged at Raymond, funded by Kandiyohi county.

Change in Singer Sewing Office Management

Last Saturday the local Singer Sewing Machine company announced a management shift. B H Chesley becomes assistant manager replacing C V Armstrong, who has led as manager for three and a half years. Armstrong is promoted to managing salesman for the St Paul firm overseeing six stores.

Front Axle Breaks On Runabout Near City

K. D. Barrett's Mitchell runabout broke its front axle Monday forenoon about three miles from town on the way to Litchfield. Miss Kathryne Spooner and Paul Spooner of Morris were passengers. Miss Spooner was thrown from the car but escaped injury. The party reached town by team, then traveled to Litchfield by train. Barrett ordered repairs and a chauffeur to bring the car home from Northfield.

Paralytic Stroke Strikes Mrs Lundquist in Brandon Visit

Mrs Martha Lundquist arrived home after a Brandon visit where heat induced a paralytic stroke left her unconscious for days. She has since improved steadily and doctors hope she will soon be in good health. Miss Alice Soderholm returned to Minneapolis after visiting her father O Soderholm in Duvre. Miss Ellen Dahl of Minneapolis is a guest at the Soderholm home this week.
