Editors Outing in Willmar and Green Lake Tour 22 Papers Attended

Minnesota Seventh District editors met at Willmar and Green Lake with 51 attendees including editors and wives from nine counties. A banquet at Carlson's Hall featured speeches on corruption, editorial practices, and ladies, followed by a boat tour on Green Lake and a late show.

Electrical engineer visits Willmar seeks municipal plant deal

Mr H B Rutledge of Central Minnesota Light and Power Co Glencoe Minn visited Willmar looking to lease or purchase the city water and light plant. He decided the town was misinformed and noted the company plans to expand power service along the Great Northern including Cassel Howard Lake Delano and Hutchinson. He cited central plant savings and rail line lighting as a model used in Illinois and other states.

Peterson Plans Speech on Senate Record at Carlson Hall

James A. Peterson, Republican candidate for United States senator, will speak at Carlson Hall in Willmar Friday at eight. He will discuss the senate record of opponent Knute Nelson, outline his insurgent credentials, and present facts to argue why the people have not been ruled. Local band music and county political notes follow as candidates file for offices and party plans unfold.

Willmar Insurance Losses Exceed Premiums in 1911

In 1911 Willmar saw 77 old line insurance writers with total premiums of 15108.23 and losses of 36895.49. Losses were paid by 33 companies, notably Hartford with 4174.16 losses and 847.05 in premiums, and Germania at 1604.77 losses and 198.67 in premiums. Courtesy of Germania and agent R W Stanford. Olson Family Heads North to Alberta Canada

Leave for Canada records Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Olson departing last Saturday to visit relatives in Alberta. Their daughter Mrs. L. M. Sorenson and children joined them to Rush City. Miss Anna Strom travels with the party to Sedalia Alberta to establish a future home. Mrs. M. A Peterson and children go to Chicago to meet Mr. Peterson returning from Sweden.

Narrow Escape From Death in Garage Car Crash

Henry Osmundson and Owen Ward of Osmundson garage escaped serious injury when a high speed Packard driven by D. N. Tallman turned turtle near a railroad crossing. Ward unscathed. Osmundson bruised with a fractured shoulder blade, hospitalized but mobile. The car was damaged and later moved for repairs.

Leading Co-operators Here In City Visit

Mr. George S. Loftus and Mr. A. A. Trayaten of Minneapolis were in the city yesterday with James Manaham. They are active in the cooperative movement among farmers and run a sales department in Minneapolis. Trayaten seeks grain and other produce shipments.

Big Poultry Show Assured at Kandiyohi Fair

The Kandiyohi County Poultry Association confirms a poultry show at the County Fair with H. A. Benjamin of Hutchinson serving as judge. The exhibit welcomes birds from outside the county and Benjamin will judge dispatches for a reasonable fee if parties wish their birds scoped.

Engineers Set Course to Roseau County Lands

A party of locomotive engineers left today for Roseau county to invest in state lands twelve miles from Warroad near the Lake of the Woods. The group includes Alfred Baldwin Clas Dahline Peter Dalen Henry Linderman Tryin Roberts and two friends I H Willard and Harvey Schultz of La Crosse Wisconsin. A severe hail storm passed Harrison township last Monday night with large stones but minimal damage as most grain had been harvested. Mrs A F Elfstram and son Fritz plus several daughters and sons enjoyed an outing at the A E Rice cottage on Eagle Lake.

William E Lee to Speak in Kandiyohi County

William E Lee, Republican gubernatorial candidate, will address Kandiyohi county residents at the Willmar Opera House tomorrow evening. He will be joined by Victor Knutson, Todd county superintendent, who will also speak. Lee won Kandiyohi in the spring primaries, but a primary-law change requires a new county vote on the nomination.

Age Social at church basement planned by Young People’s Society

The Young People’s Society of the Synod plans an Age social next Friday at 5 PM in the church basement. Five booths will depict Childhood, School Days, Youth, Middle Age and Old Age with refreshments and music. Open to all ages. attendees may visit any booths and sit for lunch.
