The two year old son of Mr and Mrs Ole Skarstrom of 404 8th St East drowned in a rock watering tank on his uncle William Carlson s farm in Fahlun township Tuesday forenoon at eleven a m Melvin Carlson found him floating on his back in the tank Dr Branton could not restore life Arthur Ferdinand Skarstrom born Oct 26 1917 Olivia was the only child of his grief stricken parents The father is a brother of Mrs William Carlson funeral held next morning at 9 30 from the residence with Rev H Tillman officiating mourners extend their sympathy

He shipped from Willmar 1917 09 22 and landed in Ho boken 1918 08 01 after fighting in Anne Marne Meuse Argonne and St Mihiel. He survived heavy combat and met Paul Anderson in France before Army of Occupation service in Germany.

New Industry at New London Launches Gravel Plant
A new Foley Bros gravel washing plant started near New London last week for concrete work in Swift and Stevens counties. Three cars were washed on Sunday, the first consigned to Guthrie & Co. The operation may become permanent, with plans to add rock crushing and more beds along the Great Northern right of way. The plant employs about fourteen men under foreman C. O. Granger and bookkeeper C. A. Parker, with a spur track and cabins for workers.

Friends report the death of Oscar Ostlund aged eighteen who fell drowned while swimming in Hawk Creek near Sacred Heart. He rose thrice and could not be helped by shore friends. burial was at his father's home. A reception for Baptist church service members followed the burial at Sacred Heart.
