Protest Against New Motor Costs Sparks Willmar Petition
Willmar Minnesota July 31 1914 petition signed by local business and motor users protests against city Water and Light Commission rule shifting the cost of new motors to users as part of machinery changes at the power house. A later August 6 notice rescinded the first policy and set a new exchange rule. The petitioners demand fair treatment and retention of prior assurances that motor upgrade costs be covered by city funds. The public notice notes widespread support and frames the issue as modernization costs borne by the city plant rather than individual patrons.
