Sad death of young wife shocks community

The town mourns the death of Mrs Linn at age 23 from complications of childbirth. She died Monday morning at home in the Fourth Ward after a Friday illness, leaving husband Theo Linn and a large circle of friends in deep grief. Funeral services were held today with Swedish Lutheran pastors officiating. Interment was in Christine church cemetery beside the unborn child.

Hon A E Rice Heads West for Pacific Coast Trip

Hon A E Rice left last week to travel to the Pacific coast. He plans visits in Washington state with ex Gov Clough and intends to attend the G A R encampment in San Francisco and reunions with veteran friends. He will visit Seattle Tacoma and Everett for gatherings with old acquaintances.

Mablow Suffered Severe Hand Injury In Machinery Accident

Otto Mablow sustained serious injuries while preparing a binder for cutting grain. His left hand was caught between a chain and cog wheel, resulting in the amputation of a fingertip and severe damage to the two adjacent fingers. Doctors fear possible amputation of one finger. the report notes prior misfortune for Mablow, including loss of an eye.

Willmar Fuel Co to Operate Wigdahl Wood Yard

The Wigdahl Wood Yard was sold to Duluth Elevator Co. and will be renamed Willmar Fuel Co with B F Westfall as manager. The firm plans upgrades to offer an up to date yard. Also on the docket, the preliminary hearing in State v Magnuson of St Johns was held in Otterness court. The charge was paternity and the defendant was bound over to the next district term.

Jail Bird Flew: Anders Hanson Escapes From Jail

Anders Hanson escaped from jail Sunday between 10 and 11 o clock after manipulating a bent window rod to create a nine inch opening. Sheriff Lundquist may have been absent, hindering pursuit, as authorities report little hope of recapturing him and no information on his future whereabouts.

Willmar Named In State Aid List For $81380 Grant

Recalvas State Aid approval by the state high school board distributes state funds to 155 high schools including Willmar. Each school receives 81380, exceeding the legislated 8120 per school due to more schools and a 821700 total appropriation minus 6500 for expenses. Atwater High School gets 81332.

City Council Grants Road Work and Licenses In 1903 Willmar

At a Monday city council meeting with most aldermen present, Hans Enelated and Andrew Anderson were granted permission to grade Trott avenue between Mason and Maud streets at their own expense under street committee supervision. Bills approved include water and light funds for coal oil and repairs, and general fund items such as juror fees and prisoner board. Grants were given to hold a shooting tournament August 18–19, 1903, and to allow street fair use of streets in September with license funds to the association. Second readings passed for ordinances on sidewalk signs, waste disposal, street encumbrances, and intoxicating liquor controls. Directors of Black Bay Mining Co. filled vacancies and planned a diamond drill project and steam boat. All State baseball club seeks a reply to a Kerkhoven game challenge.

Kantucky Feud Ends In Injury At Frost County

Fred Otte dahl, three miles south of here, was brought to Frost hospital at four Sunday morning with a deep gash from eye to nose after a quarrel at a south sod dance during a cold spell. The incident is described as a souvenir of the feud era. Ed Sandbo left for Minneapolis to seek medical advice after plans to visit Las Vegas NM. He may instead tour northern Minnesota for its invigorating air.
