Willmar Man Shot Spouse in Second Degree Charge After Land Crossing Dispute
Dennis Wheeler of 20 miles northwest of Atwater was shot in the left foot by neighbor August Maschger when crossing Maschger’s land. Wheeler swore out a warrant. Maschger surrendered and was bound over to the grand jury on a second degree assault charge after a midnight arrest. Maschger’s arsenal inventory showed extensive firearms and ammunition carried on his person, deemed a threat by authorities.

Prominent locals toured Herman Tallakson s farm east of town to view Kandiyohi county s first cement silo and Minnesota s first ponent stave silo. The Playford silo by J Emil Nelson Corp promises low maintenance and durability with patent cement staves and acid proof lining. Tallakson s silo stands 30 feet high, 15 feet 4 inches in diameter, has seven doors and 108 tons capacity, and will store this year s corn.

Sewer Amendment Carried In Willmar By Wide Margin
Local voters approved a sewer bond issue and a $10,000 increase to the permanent revolving fund in a special election by 333 to 89. The measure supports sanitary improvements and lake cleanup. A special ward election will nominate an alderman to replace C E Hornbeck in Ward Three. Threshing in July yields 27 bushels per acre on Glarum farm with oats also good.

Edward Patchell Sr died July 21 in Harding county South Dakota at his daughter’s home. Born November 22 1831 in Brooklyn New York he worked as a carriage body maker and coal trader before moving to Minnesota then South Dakota. Survived by three sons Ed Ward Robert Andrew and daughter Mrs Jennie Livingston all of Harding county. Funeral held July 24.

John Carlton of Irving died last Thursday at his home after a battle with cancer. He was 63, survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, and three grandchildren. Funeral held at New London Swedish Lutheran church Sunday with Rev. C Swenson and J Q Myers. Myers also appeared in Municipal court on bastardy charge. the baby’s mother Anna Sogge had died recently, the infant is cared for by her father and his wife. Myers bound over to grand jury with $500 bail.

Hired man charged with larceny in Fergus Falls incident
Ray Indseth aged 24 a hired man for Louis Felt of Fahlun was arraigned in Municipal court on larceny second degree. He waived examination, bound over to the grand jury with $500 bail. He allegedly took a $45 diamond ring and $13.89 from Mrs Felt’s pocketbook and savings bank, fled last night, and was captured by Sheriff Bonde at the depot after a false name exposure. He confessed, said it was his first offense and liquor influenced. He was taken to Fergus Falls Hospital. Also, Mrs Mary Johnson of Svea was found insane and committed to the Fergus Falls asylum. Sheriff Bonde arranged the floral auditorium decorations.
