County option elections underway in Minnesota counties

Minnesota counties begin weekly elections under a new law with Lyon Kanabee voting last Monday tallying 1773 to 927 and 858 to 279 for yes and no. Next Monday Chisago Isanti counties plan votes while Kandiyohi explores keeping the county dry. Odd Fellows anniversary celebrated with a banquet for about 125. Stearns county history edition praised. Kandiyohi 1905 history noted. Leonard and Mrs. Anderson return from their wedding trip.

County option petition filed for June 7 election

County Auditor Samuel Nelson issued a call for a special election on Monday, June 7, after a petition signed by 1232 residents asked whether licenses to sell toxicants should be allowed in Kandiyohi County. The petition, led by W. E. Laws on behalf of the County Committee, includes representation from every precinct with 866 being the required count. A county central committee meeting is set for May 1 at 1 30 pm at the Willmar Commercial Club to organize precinct committees and arrange a rally at the courthouse May 29.

Willmar names August Olof Forsberg postmaster designate

Willmar will appoint August Olof Forsberg as postmaster once his commission arrives. Born January 20 1864 in Munkfors Sweden he moved to Mamre township in 1870 and educated at Willmar high school Willmar Seminary Gustavus Adolphus College. He taught Kandiyohi county schools for eighteen years founded the Alliance Standard in 1892 and served as associate editor of the Willmar Tribune for ten years. He has held multiple local positions and is active in church and fraternal life. The Epworth League at Oak Park M E Church will host a program and social on April 29. Everyone invited.

Rev B E Walters Farewell Talks Before Move to Michigan

The Rev B E Walters concludes his tenure as pastor at Tripolis and Ebenezer after services last Sunday and departs this week for metropolitan Michigan. Since his 1908 ordination, his work has drawn genuine regret from parishioners including John Berglund and family. Local notices also report visitors and small town movements, with residents traveling between Mamre, Raymond, Lake Lillian, and nearby communities.
