Wilry Confectionery Change in Spicer Ownership

George W Nelson and Sigwald G Nelson of Wilry Confectionery in Wilmar have bought the George Johnson confectionery at Spicer. They will lease the building, taking only stock and business rights, and reside in Spicer. Remodeling has begun and should finish soon as Geo Johnson operated the shop last month.

Willmar Athletic Association directors push ahead with plans for a strong city nine and a Commercial League revival. Manager Gleason to arrive May 1 to organize an early season with hopes of a May 14 start. Library Benefit Saturday in Willmar arrives with coffee menu

The Library Benefit public coffee will be held Saturday from 3 to 7 PM under Library Board auspices to raise funds for library service. A committee asks for goodwill donations at the Mason ic Temple and outlines a simple menu including ham and lettuce sandwiches, cake and coffee.

An experimental program marks the fifty year observance to be held tomorrow evening at the Dist 61 schoolhouse southeast of Willmer near Tripolis church. The event starts at eight with former teachers and students among participants. A basket social follows. a large attendance is expected.

Willmar M John Manning Pioneer Fireman Passes

Michael D Manning longtime Willmar resident and Civil War veteran died at his home April 21 age 78. He helped found local business and served as alderman and village president. Funeral conducted by Odd Fellows with military honors, burial at Fairview cemetery, life tenancy arranged for Oscar Larson family. He left no direct heirs but left a substantial public legacy in Minnesota.

Bank Moves to Better Location in City

The Farmers Security State Bank moves today and tomorrow from 314 Fifth Street West to the building formerly occupied by the First National Bank. Interior work on the old bank has improved its condition and the new location places the bank more centrally in the business district.

E O Hogland Dies After Illness In Olivia Area

E O Hogland a former county resident now living in Olivia with his family died at South Side Sanitarium on Wednesday April 19. He was a carpenter in Olivia and had been in poor health, seeking care in Minneapolis. He leaves two daughters and three sons including Mrs M W Hays of Johnson City Tenn Albert of Minneapolis Gunder George and Hilda of Olivia. Remains shipped to Olivia Thursday April 20 and funeral held Saturday afternoon in Olivia. many county friends attended.

Skindelien of Arclander fled Inday or the office of County Commissioner in the Northwestern district now served by O B Reigstad. Reigstad expects to file again and a third candidate is likely, precipitating the contest into the primary election.

Flying Squadron to Begin Big Meetings in City

A six speaker Flying Squadron arrives in Willmar for a three day series of public meetings on law enforcement civic uplift and industrial justice. Two sessions daily at 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm run Saturday Sunday and Monday at the Swedish Mission church with free admission. Frank Regan of Rockford delivers two talks on taxes, noted for his tax expertise and cartooning talent.

After an inventory of I. C. Olson Furniture stock, Saturday closed the deal with Adolph Benson P. E. Olson and Victor Nelson as new owners. They plan a large updated stock and lease the building for five years. Victor Nelson will supervise embalming services in the expanded business.

Weed Law Meeting in Willmar May 4 1922

Public meeting in the Willmar house at 10 a m on Thursday May 4 1922 to discuss the weed law passed by the last legislature. County commissioners will be in session. A representative of the State Weed Inspection office will attend. Leroy Kumstra son of Mr and Mrs Louis Kumstra of Litchfield was accidentally shot in the leg on April 20 while gopher hunting. a 22 caliber rifle discharged and the shot entered the thigh and exited the opposite side.

The elected delegates of the Farmers Non-Partisan League of Kandiyohi County and organized labor in the county are invited to meet at Labor Hall in the Tribune Building Willmar on Wednesday May 10 at two o clock p m for discussion and decisions on important matters. Lightning artist captivates audience with live drawings

A dynamic lecturer described as a worker who uses rapid lightning drawings to illustrate points keeps audiences engaged and applauding throughout.
