Jobo Larson of this city left last Friday one trip to his old home in Sweden, where he expected to spend some time for the benefi of his health as well as to enjoy a visit with rela tives and old friends. His destina tion was Renkaby, Kristianstads Lan. He will sail from New York tomorrow on the steamship United States of the Scandinavian-American line.
A temporary Willmar Strawboard Manufacturing Company is formed to study the strawboard project proposed by Pieter Pring Holland. The group aims to secure $25,000 locally for a Willmar mill, with E. C. Wellin as president and A. J. Prins Holt and others directing the effort among Holland residents.
Peter Larson, aged 66, longtime Lake Lillian settler, died Sunday April 25 at his son in law David Carlson's home. Funeral Thursday at Christine cemetery with Rev J O Lundberg, leaves one son and three daughters all in Lake Lillian township. Louisa Johnson, aged 75 years five months, died Tuesday April 17 at her son in law Alfert Frankson's home in Lake Lillian. Funeral Friday at Roselillian meetinghouse, buried in adjoining cemetery. Rev Peterson of Lott Lake presiding. She leaves one son in North Dakota and two daughters Mrs A Frankson and Mrs C Abrahamson.
John P. Sheridan a 43 year old conductor on the Great Northern died at St Joseph’s hospital in St Paul after a month long illness kidney trouble. Survived by wife at 405 University Ave St Paul and parents in Morris a sister in Litchfield and he was a popular Knights of Pythias Elks and Railway Conductors member. Funeral from 405 University Ave at 9:30 to St Peter Claver church at 10.
The home of Mr and Mrs B E Stansberry hosted about twenty five guests for the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs William Stansberry. G A R veterans attended with extended family. the couple were married fifty years ago in Morgantown Virginia and later moved to Minnesota. They have twelve children, seven living, including Delia Pinkerton Stephen Aaron William Frank James and Effie Ditmore. The event featured a social gathering and supper, with many gifts, as friends wished them many more years.
Mrs Th Jersin formerly of Willmar, now in Bergen Norway, visited her aunt and uncle Mr and Mrs C A Nelson. She traveled from Minneapolis where she spent time with her father C G Wennerlund and sisters Gerda and Camilla. Otto Wennerlund attended a family reunion in Duluth. Elias Wennerlund works as a traveling engineer for Santa Fe in Newton Kansas.
A Hutchinson Leader note warns farm help shortages grow as wages reach 4.50 per day, threatening profits. Farmers with willing family laborers are seen as fortunate. In Kandiyohi County the same issue appears with high pay cutting into returns. Mr and Mrs E H Webb of St Cloud join Willmar as new Cummings Commission manager occupants.
The Great Northern plans extensive track revisions and grade cutting on the Minneapolis to Willmar route this summer. About thirty work trains will operate, passenger service reduced to one local, and a near double tracking from Wayzata to Willmar to handle increased freight. Twenty freight crews move to Willmar and seven passenger crews shift to St Paul as new time cards are issued.
Interest grows for a gold medal contest at the Willmar Opera House on Friday evening May 4. Proceeds support Eagle Lake Orphanage, with one third benefiting the orphan home. Admission 20 cents lower floor, 10 cents gallery. seats on sale. Program includes High School Orchestra, solos, and instrumental numbers under the auspices of local ladies.

Erick Erickson canvassing for a book and urges purchases. Jarrett busy with hay. Pennock to get a drag line. Ladies Sewing Society met at Otto Nelson's. Naty, working for Ed Lindgren, spent Sunday in Kerkhoven. J Forsberg building house for Mrs. J Anderson this week.

Litchfield plans July 4 encampment with Uniform Bank Knights of Pythiss invited for four days. James Stepsberry returns from health trip to Arizona reporting improved strength.
The board of education met to review bids for the new schoolhouse. Prices rose with material costs, but the lowest bids came in under expectations after changes. Andrew Bjorsoll of Willmar won general contract at 924,067, J H Wiggins Co. secured plumbing at 1,173 after a small allowance, and heating bids were rejected with plans to cut about 1,200 from the total. The project proceeds despite higher costs due to urgent need and lumber market pressures.
Willmar will field a new town club for the coming season with Melvin Grangaard as catcher and Ludvig Glarum as pitcher among the lineup. Peter Person is captain and a manager is sought. the club plans to improve the ball park, schedule practice games, and host challenges from Paynesville and other towns.
The tenth annual meeting of the Northern Minnesota Educational Association, held in St. Cloud last Friday and Saturday, drew Kandiyohi county educators including Co Supt Dobbyn, Willmar Seminary Principal Hilleboe, Prof. R C Stetten, and Supt M L Jacobson. Jacobson spoke on training for citizenship as over one hundred teachers attended. The convention, held in the State Normal school building, was one of the association’s most successful events with about twenty five city superintendents and many grade teachers present.
Dorcas Guild of St Luke s church invites all to a social in the Guild Hall on Thursday evening starting at eight. A short program includes the one act comedy Bachelor Girls followed by lunch. Admission is 15 cents. Everyone is welcome.
