Williams Named Willmar Agent For Great Northern Railway

E H Williams with fifteen years at St Paul & Duluth including roles as general yard master and Duluth agent is appointed Willmar Minnesota agent for the Great Northern. After the NP absorption he moved to Brainerd as yardmaster and returns with April 21 start. His family will stay in Duluth then move to Wilmer. Williams aided the first relief train to Hinckley after the 1904 forest fire, earning credit in official records. The fire department quickly responded to a chimney fire at Anna Dahl's residence with minor roof scorching and rapid containment.

Willmar Confectioner Wesley Burr Dies After Illness

Wesley Burr, a longtime Willmar confectioner and fruit store operator, died last Thursday night at age 49 after a lingering illness from a disease. He was a prominent local businessman, active since boyhood, with roles in Burr & Dow, the town’s first confectionery. later in dairying and other confectionery ventures. He leaves a widow and two sons and was remembered for his energetic work and genial disposition. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at his residence with Rev. D.T. Booth officiating.

Willmar Stop Delights Rail Magnate Party

J J Mill in Willmar with President J J Aull and Great Northern officials journeyed from Seattle to St Paul on a record long distance run. The train averaged 45 hours 50 minutes for 1823 miles, topping usual 66 hour schedules. Engineers Kilbain Olson and firemen rotated, with Miller J N Hill, Stevens, Tuck and French aboard. The party included stockholders and VIPs, speeding at times to 84.6 miles an hour.

Mission Services and Willmar Litchfield Deputations Form

The Episcopal board designated last Sunday for nationwide missionary presentations with deputations to parishes. Willmar and Litchfield exchanged pulpits with Rev. Carl R. Taylor and Judge A. F. Nordin assisting at St. Luke's. The Willmar Choral Union organized with Prof. O Anderson as director and W W Kil Gore as president, inviting all singers to join.
