A overseas whippet tank, used on the front to fight Germans, toured Willmar as part of the Victory Loan effort to sell bonds. The vehicle, camouflaged with bullet marks, demonstrated climbing at central schools and drew crowds as it traveled through Montevideo Olivia Hutchinson Minneapolis St Paul and other cities. R Gould of Cleveland, recently with the US Tank Service, supervised the display. the tank was to be in Benson tomorrow and is moved on a flat car.

Presbyterian Easter Service Impresses at Local Church

St Cloud Presbytery met at Foley with Rev W Bryn Jones elected moderator and John Williams named commissioner to the General Assembly in St Louis May 16. Private Clifford Johnson arrived for 30 days furlough from Brownsville Texas. he, and brothers Norman and Archie Johnson, are on the Mexican border. Johnson re enlisted and may be transferred.

Oscar Olin returns from year overseas service
Private Oscar Olin came home from over a year in France last Saturday evening after the February 26, 1918 draft and mustering out at Camp Grant. He fought with Company A, 131 Infantry, 33rd Division, serving as a sniper under British then American command. He saw many combats starting July 4, 1918 at Hamlin village and August 9 on the Somme, where he was slightly wounded and spent ten days in a hospital. A second wound on October 16 near Verdun ended with shrapnel in his upper right arm as replacements dwindled to 14 men on armistice day. The unit pierced the Hindenburg Line August 8. Nilsen Honored at Lutheran Free church program featured music and a $19 gift to Pastor Rev. Nilsen.

Willmar Soldier Lou Halvorson Led Coast Artillery in War
Louis Halvorson of Willmar served two years after enlisting April 18 1917. He trained at camps in the U S and went overseas January 19 1918 attached to the 1st Coast Artillery Corps as motor cycle dispatcher. Active service lasted until the armistice with action in the St Mihiel drive. He returns home smiling and reserved about his experiences. Miss Florence Peterson to entertain Altrurians at her Sth Street home Monday April 28. all members urged to attend.

Sibley State Park Created On Lake Andrew North Shore
Senator Gandrud announced the bill establishing a new state park on the north shore of Lake Andrew as Sibley State Park has passed both houses and become law. The park will cover about four hundred acres with a $26,000 appropriation, linking Mount Tom and surrounding hills to a lakeside, stretching along the lake for about a mile and a quarter and adjoining Colfax road.
