Despite early doubts the tabernacle meetings in Willmar draw large crowds with many farmers attending. Prayer meetings are held at homes and a business group meets concurrently. Rev Aldrich preached on love and salvation emphasizing the choice between heaven and hell and urging continuation of revival efforts.
Local Red Cross members urged to sew baby layettes for Europe’s devastated districts. Materials are affordable now, and patterns are available at Red Cross Headquarters. Each woman should make at least one outfit in support of the needy.
Message urging use of the Red Cross Home Service as a neighborly source of aid for soldiers families and civilians. It outlines help with allotments insurance bonuses mortgages judgments Liberty Bonds and employment and offers personal support for loss illness housing and personal troubles through the Kandiyohi County Chapter.
A overseas whippet tank, used on the front to fight Germans, toured Willmar as part of the Victory Loan effort to sell bonds. The vehicle, camouflaged with bullet marks, demonstrated climbing at central schools and drew crowds as it traveled through Montevideo Olivia Hutchinson Minneapolis St Paul and other cities. R Gould of Cleveland, recently with the US Tank Service, supervised the display. the tank was to be in Benson tomorrow and is moved on a flat car.
The Easter service at the Presbyterian church last Sunday drew a full house with a sermon titled Religion of a Burning Heart. Twenty-two new members joined, two by letter, others by confession, followed by the Lord's Supper. Infants Nelson and W Noland were baptized. decorations and music were praised. St Cloud Presbytery met at Foley with Rev W Bryn Jones elected moderator and John Williams named commissioner to the General Assembly in St Louis May 16. Private Clifford Johnson arrived for 30 days furlough from Brownsville Texas. he, and brothers Norman and Archie Johnson, are on the Mexican border. Johnson re enlisted and may be transferred.
Pvt Einar Brogren returns home to Willmar on a 20 day furlough from the U S Hospital at Cape May New Jersey his arm nerve injury from a shrimp net cut is nearly healed and he expects discharge soon his Willmar friends are glad to see him

Boiled linseed oil at 2.00 per gallon terpentine at 1.00 per gallon and exterior floor paint 4.25. lawn mowers priced 9.50 to 16.00 for Tripple Go, reduced from 20.00. The shop invites trades and pledges to please customers.
Campaign for Kandiyohi County Victory Bonds shows good advance as Fahlun township reports full quota and Willmar banks process subscriptions. If all townships meet targets this week the county should reach the top similar to prior loans. Shadow Social at School District 70 Ringo Lake May 3 invites teachers and pupils with a lunch request for attendees.
County Superintendent O O Alvin receives 40 from School District No 81 as a donation to the Armenian Relief Fund. Edith Samuelson and pupils raised 79 during a 2 program and social, donating the amount to the cause. Sailor Fred Jydstrup of Raymond arrived for a ten day visit. an engineer on the U S S Utah, he served 14 months overseas and traveled 27,000 miles at sea since January 27. He is J P Jydetrup's son of Raymond and came from Fort de France Martinique.
Private Oscar Olin came home from over a year in France last Saturday evening after the February 26, 1918 draft and mustering out at Camp Grant. He fought with Company A, 131 Infantry, 33rd Division, serving as a sniper under British then American command. He saw many combats starting July 4, 1918 at Hamlin village and August 9 on the Somme, where he was slightly wounded and spent ten days in a hospital. A second wound on October 16 near Verdun ended with shrapnel in his upper right arm as replacements dwindled to 14 men on armistice day. The unit pierced the Hindenburg Line August 8. Nilsen Honored at Lutheran Free church program featured music and a $19 gift to Pastor Rev. Nilsen.
Last Thursday A. N. Lewis sold his corner property at Fifth street and Pacific avenue to Jeweler C. A. Nelson and H. Hershey of the music store. Both purchasers occupied the building and Nelson has rented the corner for over twenty years. The property covers seventy five feet of frontage on both street and avenue and includes adjoining small buildings.
Louis Halvorson of Willmar served two years after enlisting April 18 1917. He trained at camps in the U S and went overseas January 19 1918 attached to the 1st Coast Artillery Corps as motor cycle dispatcher. Active service lasted until the armistice with action in the St Mihiel drive. He returns home smiling and reserved about his experiences. Miss Florence Peterson to entertain Altrurians at her Sth Street home Monday April 28. all members urged to attend.
Senator Gandrud announced the bill establishing a new state park on the north shore of Lake Andrew as Sibley State Park has passed both houses and become law. The park will cover about four hundred acres with a $26,000 appropriation, linking Mount Tom and surrounding hills to a lakeside, stretching along the lake for about a mile and a quarter and adjoining Colfax road. This first park in Minnesota’s southern park region will be a cherished public beach site and honor Col H H Sibley, longtime land advocate and state governor.
