Federal Jury Awards 50,000 in Willmar Rail Case
A federal court verdict awarded Henrik W. Otos of Willmar $50,000 damages against the Great Northern railroad for injuries suffered while uncoupling cars in Willmar yards. Otos lost a leg and sustained back injuries, with trials noting a defective coupling and safety appliance issues. The case, tried in Minneapolis, drew mayor Tom Davis of Marshall as lead advocate for Otos. The railroad may seek a new trial or appeal to the federal court of appeals.

Death and funerals reflect close knit Danish community
John N Abrahamson died April 17 at his home near Strandburg Grant County. Born February 2 1856 in Dalarne Sweden he leaves eleven children and many relatives. Funeral April 22 drew one of the largest attendances in Strandburg with N N Abrahamson of Mamre among mourners. He was a valued community figure in Mamre for 25 years and respected by neighbors.
