A Saturday blaze destroyed C Otto Bergquist’s new barn and silo at Kandiyohi township, with losses exceeding 6000 dollars. About 25 to 30 tons of hay and equipment were inside. all stock saved except a calf. Fire started near the engine house. cause remains unknown. Insurance covered 3000 on the barn and silo, 260 on the gasoline engine, and 314 on hay contents. neighbors aided, family helped evacuate animals.
Obituary notes mourn Mrs Martha Fixen of this city who died April 10 after two months of stomach cancer at age 63. Born in Norway, she came to America in 1893 and lived in Willmar since. Surviving children include Mrs Alfred Gilbertson, Mrs Nels Balke, Martin Fixen of Willmar, and Ole Oakland of Minneapolis, plus nine grandchildren and several siblings. Funeral held at Alfred Gilbertson home and Free Lutheran church with Rev M B Michaelson officiating. Also noted: Peter Johan Johnson, longtime Town of Dovre resident, died April 9 at Milaca after five weeks illness. services attended by J P Johnson of Pennock. Licenses to wed listed for four couples. M H Hermanson recovering after serious operation at Willmar hospital.

On Saturday April 19 at Bonde Hall Mr MecCrillis will speak as the fourth Lyceum Course lecture. The title of his talk is What Socialists Want and will address social and political aims.
