Tank Disappoints Crowds. New Willmar Date Planned

An armored tank planned for Willmar failed to appear after breaking down at Cassel causing the local event to be abandoned. Officials hope conditions will improve for a future visit. A separate note reports Raymond resident Henry Freese arriving home from Camp Dodge after serving in the 47th Infantry, 4th Division, wounded in France and honorably discharged.

Pleasant social honors for local families at church

Mesdames 0. Kjos and K. M. Kalbak were surprised by friends at a Thursday night gathering in the Bynod church basement. Rev. Andersen spoke for the attendees. The Kjos family plans to move to Renville and the Kalbak family to Kandiyohi.

Willmar Presbyterian Church Business Session Highlights

The Willmar Presbyterian Church held its annual meeting noting Herbert Hengatler’s resignation as trustee due to overseas service with the colors. Maxfield Lewis was elected to fill the unexpired term, and F. Millard elected elder for three years. The Ladies Social Union reported a strong year with 500 refuges garments made. the Astrurians disbursed over 380 dollars, and the Sunday School 180 dollars. Also mentions a double wedding and local military returns and appointments.

Tabernacle Draws Crowds and Special Night Program

Rev A Lea Aldrich preached on Everything in Its Place in a full Tabernacle. City election yesterday was a quiet affair with Odell and Gunderson reelected treasurer and clerk. N E Ewenson led caucus nominees. Gunderson won three of four wards for city clerk.

Four hundred fifty Sunday School reps lead Willmar revival parade

A large Willmar revival drew 450 Sunday School representatives from English Swedish Baptist Presbyterian and Swedish Mission churches. The event featured a farmers night, plan for weekly theme nights, and sermons stressing Bible familiarity for lay teaching. Mr Aldrich addressed men and women separately, with a major Sunday attendance praising What It Means to be a Christian and God Home and Country.

The annual Senior class play All of a Sudden Peggy at the Willmar Opera House drew a packed audience Friday. Florence Kielty as Peggy and William Loney as Lord Crackenthorpe won acclaim, with strong turns from Buena Aaring, Roy Erickson, Luella Grangaard, Clarence Hanson, Elsie Skoog, Hallin, Millard, Lulu Faringham, and Irene Anderberg guiding and costuming. Nordstrom’s promotion as assistant cashier noted. Garfield Cutts resigns to return to retail, effective April 1.

Tax commiss-ion talk to assessors in Willmar

James T. Hale of the state tax commission spoke to county assessors at the county auditor's office in Willmar. He gave instructions and suggestions on assessing work. Two Casualty Companies of Returning Soldiers

A Great Northern special train carried returning soldiers from Camp Merritt to Camp Meade and then to town. The train included 348 and 362 casualty companies with a mix of regimental units and support personnel. Aboard were canteen workers and volunteers serving troops en route to post cards and a planned supper in Annapolis. One soldier, Albert Lindell, was injured in an engine incident at Minneapolis Apollo and transported to Frost-Benson Hospital in Willmar. The day also saw community notices from township mutuals aiding recovery, plus local updates on Lt. Reuben Anderson’s discharge and E G Pagel’s visit.
