Admiral Winfield Scott Schley, hero of Santiago, arrived by special train two hours late and was met by a large Willmar crowd. He spoke briefly to enthusiastic listeners and shook many hands before continuing to the Twin Cities, where a return reception and parade awaited him. Mrs Schley Mrs McClure and others accompanied the party, with plans for a Commercial Club reception and capitol demonstration.

A three week county investigation led to arrests of B F Miller Ben Waterman Isaac Emerson William Peterson and Nels Hawkinson on charges tied to questionable drinks. All but Hawkinson faced preliminary hearings and were bound over to the grand jury with 200 bail each. Miller Waterman and Emerson had prior bonds. Peterson and Hawkinson remained jailed after waivers and bail issues. County attorney expects strong witnesses for the case.

School Board Elects Teachers for Next Year
The school board reelected nearly all current teachers for the next year with several vacancies expected. Miss Odella Bauer and Miss Kathryn Bauer will not seek reelection and may teach in Wheaton. Miss Isabelle Chase departs Garfield School, to be replaced by Ella Gould from Lincoln building, with further transfers possible. Martha Haley, presently in Alexandria, joins the faculty next year. A board meeting next Wednesday is set to fill remaining vacancies.

Rail yard wreck damages freight cars in early morning accident
A switch engine shoved a string of cars into train No 246 from Sioux Falls injuring corn and coal cars. Fragments of corn spilled across the ground were largely gathered by a ground crew. After a fiercely fought city contest Willmar preserves its policy and seats much of the independent temperance ticket. Train of Six Cars Seen By Willmar Citizens At Early Stop
About two hundred Willmar residents gathered at the depot Sunday morning to glimpse a luxury presidential train sent by the Pennsylvania Railroad. The six car set, including President Roosevelt’s private car Elysian with parlor and state rooms, toured from Washington to Yankton with crews from Great Northern and local staff aboard. The sightseers studied the rolling stock during a ten minute stop while the president slept inside. The party later spent the day in Sioux Falls as guests of the city.

Funeral for Petar Carl Carlson in Fourth Ward
The funeral of Peter E. Carlson, who died at his home in the Fourth Ward last Tuesday, was held Friday afternoon at Separsties church with readings by Swan Edlund from Duluth. Burial followed at Fairview cemetery as friends and relatives joined the large gathering. Mrs. Lottia Anderson, widow of the deceased, attended from Kansas City, Missouri, and Supt. Dobbyn’s family recently moved from Atwater to Willmar, living in the Bergquist home on Becker Avenue. A surprise farewell for Mr and Mrs Dobbyn occurred Tuesday evening at I. E. Covell’s, with the Board of Education and teachers present. they received chairs as tokens of esteem. Swan Nelson Jr. was a passenger on the east-bound train, departing to Willmar to pursue leads.

Breckenridge Division to Move to Willmar Crookston Headquar ters
The Crookston Journal reports Great Northern plans to relocate three divisions to Crookston with Breckenridge division moved to Willmar as headquarters for Sioux Falls and related lines. A new two story 500 foot building is to be erected by July 1 to house offices, clerks, roadmasters, and crews, boosting Crookston's population by about 1,000. The Breckenridge point would lose its division offices but trains will continue to run normally.
