Miss Amelia Broegger Arrives Safely After Devila Lake Train Wreck

Miss Amelia Broegger daughter of Nicholas Broeeger arrived in Williston from Watertown on Wednesday morning. She was escorted by her sister-in-law Mrs. J Zeno Broegger who continued the journey homeward. The group had been aboard a train wrecked near Devil Lake Tuesday, and friends here feared for their safety. Their safe arrival was welcomed with relief.

Doctor Swanson Dead in Devils Lake D

Dr Wey Swanson of Devils Lake died at 7:46 PM from heart failure. A longtime politician and public advocate, he served in the territorial house in 1888 and the state senate in 1880 as a Republican. He was a member of the Masonic, Odd Fellows, United Workmen, Maccabees and Knights of Pythias orders. The Bruegger Mercantile Co and others shipped a cattle train to Chicago. Paul Leon Hardy, Chris Anderson and Geo W Newton accompanied the stock.

Strayed or stolen from Lam Hee at three miles north of Williston X. De on about September 28 1886 four branded horses are missing. A bay horse with EL and ingyao brands on right thigh, a grey horse with C on left shoulder, a bay with RL and bar on left shoulder, and a sorrel horse with M and bar on left shoulder. A liberal reward is offered for information leading to recovery.
