Electric Car Runaway Kills One Injures Many in San Francisco

In San Francisco on October 4 an electric car ran away on a grade. Jesus Ri Fendsen was killed Sergt Harry Gurren of the Thirteenth United States infantry fatally injured and thirteen others seriously injured when brakes failed until the car gained speed. The motorman finally applied brakes near a curve causing a sudden stop and many were thrown off.

Warships To Be Launched In October

Westington October 4. Several war ships will be launched this month including the battleships Georgia at Bath Maine on October 11 and Nebraska at Moran Bros Seattle about October 10. The Boxer will launch at Portsmouth New Hampshire October 7. Paducah to be launched in New York October 18 and Intrepid at Mare Island Navy Yard late October.

Man Mor Morrison Hanged After Fatal Quarrel in Kershaw

In Kershaw South Carolina on October four John Morrison shot and killed Willie Floyd after a dispute over a ten cent loan. Floyd was popular and the murder caused strong indignation. Captain Zemper led about twenty guards from Camden, but Morrison was lynched before their arrival.

Game law violators fined in September report

State Game Warden Charlies H. Chap-Bault from Ste. Marie Michigan notes fifty convictions and three acquittals for September. Nearly a thousand dollars in fines were collected. Twenty arrests were for fish law violations. Expect heavy work ahead as hunting season opens and the upper peninsula fills with hunters.

Indianapolis readers learned that two women were granted the right to carry revolvers after dark to defend against a well dressed assailant who has attacked three women in the past week. Police advised shooting to kill if necessary. The women, all employed, do not head home until after dark.
