In Ramsey county North Dakota on September 24 1908 W S Howard killed A L Thomas with a No 12 shotgun at River farm Royal Township. Howard then shot at himself wounding two ribs and was guarded to Devils Lake. Daughters Ruth and another witnessed the crime triggering local shock.
