Williston Champions Trample Devils Lake 51 to 20
Williston defeated Devils Lake 51 to 20 on the lake grounds last Friday. Williston led throughout as Jaynes left half was injured, McDonald filling in and delivering a 50 yard run. The first three Williston passes went for touchdowns, while Devils Lake used many passes, eight completing for two scores. Williston’s line and backfield improved, though the loss of Jaynes weakened both sides. Officials were Andy Gill, Frazier, and Johnson.

Aviation Brother Joins Corps Aviation
Henry J. O Riley of Parga has passed the examination for admission by the aviation signal corps. He left Fargo Saturday for Aberdeen and from there to Jefferson Barracks where after another examination he will be assigned to an aviation camp. Mr. O Riley is a brother of Miss Nell O Riley of this city. Ole Eb Viig and Mrs Carolina M Viig both of Aluzmo NJ, Nov. Wm Reese and Elizatech Olinger both of Williston, Nov. 22. Conklin was enthusiastic rerailing the company and stated they had written over four million dollars worth of business since the company started a year ago last spring. Wm Snider and son Earl, who have been visiting relatives at Oskalosa IA, returned Tuesday evening and will leave for Washington in a couple of days.

Pioneer jurist Gowan is dead in North Dakota
John F. Cowan former North Dakota attorney general and district judge died in Rochester Minnesota at age 68. Born December 29 1858 in Dumfriesshire Scotland he came to Canada and the United States later settling in Devils Lake North Dakota. He served as attorney general from 1894 to 1900 and as judge of the Second judicial district from 1900 to 1917.

Explosives Crime Tightened by War Measure
A new rule makes possession of unlicensed explosives illegal after November 15 with penalties of up to $5,000 fine and one year in prison or both.
