Former Secretary W. J. Bryan denounces President Wilson’s national defense plan in a formal statement. He criticizes the policy as a reversal of tradition and a threat to peace and safety, urging dissent from the administration’s approach.
A county list enumerates schools outside Williston Independent district, including multiple First and Second Class Rural, First Class Consolidated, and Second Class Rural districts such as Tioga Township, Brooklyn, Adams, Bonetrails, Hazel, Tande, Twin Lake, Temple, Grinnell, Champions, Hartland, Spring Coulee, and Wild Rose districts with various class designations. John Hutchinson a longtime Fairview resident who recently moved to Los Angeles died in that city Monday morning. His remains will be returned to Fairview for funeral services on Sunday. He was the father of T. C. Hutchinson and his wife, who have traveled to Fairview for the funeral as friends extend sympathy.
D. C. Calhoun of Bottineau was killed when he was ejected from the Great Northern Oriental Limited at Niagara in a Wednesday evening accident. Coroner's inquest said he clung to the moving train after being refused fare and fell beneath the wheels. he leaves a wife and two or three children.
In Kief North Dakota on November 5 robbers blasted through three steel doors of the First State Bank vault using nitroglycerine and escaped with about 1700 dollars. The interior was wrecked and tools were left behind, with about 650 in gold 600 in currency and the rest in silver taken. Officials found no crew and suspect no automobile involvement though the bank usually held 4000 to 5000. The loss is insured and H E Stringer serves as cashier.
Berlin reports a severe October 13 Zeppelin bombardment over London and the Metropolitan area. Docks warehouses and ships damaged or destroyed, Woolwich arsenal struck, several towers and offices damaged, factories burned, and numerous streets wrecked. London defenses including searchlights and anti aircraft fire were active.
An abrupt snow storm hit the area after a warm spell with rain turning to snow Sunday. Several inches fell locally while areas north and east of Williston reported three feet of snow, leaving soil moist for next year's planting.
The A. O. Ringo sale of city lots in the Wittmeier addition drew a fair crowd last Thursday afternoon. About twenty five lots sold, prices ranging from 25 to 150 dollars. Mrs. J. P. Mergen won the free lot. four others had been drawn but were not present and lost their chances.

J F Wastan living on the Frank Davia farm four miles north of Wil liston had a frightening run in with a runaway team last Friday morning. The horses bolted after a second team approached, tossing Wastan to the ground and damaging the wagon and harness while leaving him with only a few bruises.
Mrs Francis May Kirkpatrick of Epping North Dakota died in Minot at 5 15 PM October 25 following cancer surgery. Born Ohio March 22 1872 she married L M Kirkpatrick May 22 1889. They moved to North Dakota in 1907 and remained there. Surviving husband son daughter father brother and two sisters. Funeral from the home Thursday October 29 conducted by Rev Scha interned in Trapping Cemetery.
C Ellithorpe built a leading road to a coal mine in the area. Proceed three miles northeast to the old Brown mine for coal. the route is described as a good road.

Gordon, initially acquitted on selling liquor, was later convicted at a January trial. He faces 110 days in jail and a $200 fine with 75 additional days for nonpayment. he has 20 days to seek a rehearing.
