Experi enced horse with a storied past works daily in Indiana
An aged horse with one ear and a scarred tongue drawn from years of war and service now trekS an omnibus route from Lawrenceburg to Greggsville Indiana. Once a swift government troop horse captured in battles and later traded through many hands the animal endured captivity theft and rough living before landing with George Lowe last week. At 20 years old he remains strong and alert with a solitary ear and a keen eye for danger and movement. Paralleling the tale is note on woolen teasles grown in Onondaga County New York Marcellus and Skaneateles with soil of clay and lime yielding sharper tips than steel. The American crop is stiffer than the English and softer than the French with Europe producing less this year.
