Lightning Kills Charley Peery in Trenton Thunderbolt
Charles Peery was struck and killed by a lightning bolt near Trenton while a second shock hit as he and Moon went to assist a horse hitched before Ruy W. J. Snow’s home. Coroner Thomas declined an inquest. the body, embalmed, was sent to Missouri. Peery was a nephew of Rev. Snow and W. P. Thornton.

A 25 year old homesteader 35 miles north of Ray died after mistaking a bottle labeled peppermint for a poison dose at neighbor Frank Daggett s place. Coroner Thames did not order an inquest. The body was moved to Williston for undertaker preparation and the father in Browne Valley was notified to retrieve the remains.

School Notes Update From Local District
Miss Ruby Hanes has been absent due to sickness. There will be school Tuesday for Memorial Day. Miss Cora Boyd has returned to take exams. The High School literary society adjourned for summer on May 12. State exams begin May 26 for all eight grade and high studies. The High School girls basketball team hosted a reception for the Paw Basketball team on April 20 at the Odd Fellows hall. Mr. Ellithorpe traveled to Grand Forke Friday night for a principal's meeting and track meet at the state diversity Saturday, returning Sunday. He hopes the school will soon be represented in the declamation contest and track events as well as at the principal's meeting.

Williston First Troop Meeting Sees 50 Attend Opera House
The Williston city cavalry held its Brat meeting and drill at the opera house on Wednesday evening with over fifty members present. O O Freck was elected temporary chairman and Dr Horley secretary, Freck also chosen troop instructor until officers are elected. An election will be ordered by the Adjutant General later. A Friday May 26 meeting at 8 p m in the opera house will finalize plans for Memorial Day exercises next Tuesday.
