Fraterville Mine Disaster Shatters Tennessee Town

In Coal Creek area near Fraterville Tennessee a gas explosion destroyed the Fraterville coal mine at 7:30 am yesterday killing between 175 and 225 miners and boys. Only one man, W A Morgen, survived but was mortally injured. Rescue teams faced heavy slate falls and thick gas as they pursued survivors and recovered bodies through the day.

Gen Egan Wins 2.5 Million Acres in Western Mexico

Gen Charles P. Egan known for embalmed beef gains title to 2.5 million acres of mining land in Western Mexico after a protracted Mexican court battle. Associates Alvinza Wayward and Charles D. Duluth Storm Terrifies City Injures Several

A severe windstorm struck Duluth Minnesota on May 21 causing injuries to workers including John Swanzon of Clark Jackson Lumber and Mary McFarlane. Trees were felled, lumber yards flooded, and the Codorus and India vessels collided near the harbor. Damaged offices and irreplaceable records at the U S engineers building were destroyed.

Weir, an elderly resident of Lake Elmo Minnesota, was struck and killed by lightning while planting corn with his son near their home.
