Daniel P. McLaurin, an early Grand Forks settler and familiar local businessman, died in Denver last Saturday. His remains will be sent home for interment. Also noted: Towner Graphic mentions a stabbing affray and local news from Ole Gilbertson about settlers moving into Culbertson area and distant Plenty Wood post office.
A Mandan Pioneer article argues that twelve well fed cows yield $500 yearly plus calves. They provide milk and butter, convert waste into money, improve pasture, hedge fences, and sustain the farm when grains fail, reliably paying taxes and wages.

Contest alleges abandonment and lack of bona fide settlement or improvements. Hearings set for 10 a.m. June 4, 1901 at the Minot Land Office. Hasscost as Receiver and James Johnson as claimant's attorney.
Notice under the Timber Land Act of 1878 announces that Frank J. Brunt of Grinnell North Dakota filed in Minot a timber land claim for the NW1 of Section 2 Township 14 Range 95 with proof to show land is valuab le for timber and stone rather than agriculture. The filing date is May 14 1901 with adverse claims due by May 18 1901 before Register Thomas E. O’Scann and attorney James Jones.
