Former Alderman Charles G Havenor of Milwaukee s Fourth ward has been denied a new trial. He received a two year sentence for bribery with no stay granted by Judge Williams and began serving Saturday. Havenor, convicted for accepting a $100 bribe to further a special privilege on April 1 1899, is noted as owner and president of the Milwaukee American Association baseball club.
Des Moines reports Rock Island officials secured a confession from Eric Kutzleven of South Amana who pulled spikes and rails loose near Homestead, Iowa to satisfy curiosity about the outcome. Kutzleven, presenting himself as a German nobleman, had posed for some time at South Amana.
Mrs W H Schwelering wife of the presid ing elder of the German Methodist church was struck by a street car in Burlington Iowa and killed instantly on March 28. The accident left the community shock and the church awaiting details from city authorities.
Frank Brabender of Adrian was acquitted by directed verdict in Laverne Minnesota district court on the charge of abducting two young girls from the city to Adrian.

Florence Kellogg, young daughter of Mr and Mrs R C Kellogg of Goodhue Minnesota, was seated near a stove when her dress touched the heat. The flames burned through her clothing to the body and singed all hair on the back of her head. Her mother rushed to help but suffered burns.
A girl suffered burns while trying to extinguish a fire. Doctors report the injuries are serious but not expected to be fatal.
In Hager Wisconsin on March 28 burglars broke into Dan Hollinger’s saloon near midnight. They smashed several slot machines and stole about twenty dollars in cash along with cigars and liquor.
